AU week is coming!

Remember the AU week I announced in May for the end of July?

Well, now it's mid-July, and it's coming very soon! In fact, I thought we'd run it in the week from the 17th to the 24th of July, that is, from Friday to Friday. Eight days to go wild, and the following weekend to do fallout from whatever happened (if the charries remember, which is entirely up to each individual mun) and/or finishing threads.

Does that work for people, or will you be entirely unable to make it that week? If so, doing it from the 24th to 31st would be an alternative, but that would throw the aftermath into the next apping period. Do weigh in if the earlier week doesn't work for you, or if you have any more questions or ideas.

Thank you!

I'm still up for it. Likely just sticking to biker Rollo and Hogwarts Selina.

Yiiis, totally up for it! I'll be out of touch during the days of the 20th-22nd, but should be around in the evenings.

Nobody's available all the time -- but we're all going to have a lot of fun.

At least that's the plan.

Fine for me, though it'll be Bonnie not Guppy.

Excellent -- not every pup has to play! I'm going to do a group AU with the Vikings contingent, and some hilarious AU Hannibal -- I might go for the Jazz Musician AU, actually. Or make him a vigilante instead of a cannibal.

17-24 is going to be close to impossible for me, but I realize this is really late to say something.

I hope you'll be able to play at least a little and enjoy your charries in their changed state!

I'm prewriting quite a bit of Bonnie's if you want to do an OOM or something, I never mind slowtime.

Also she's doing rollerderby and I bet May would be awesome at that.

Oooh, that would be fun! Unfortunately I thinkI'm going to just avoid AU week plotting until after I take my exam, but if you want to sandbox it either in your journal or a sandbox at any point after Thursday let me know! :D!

Okay, I have a question because I am mildly confused by the guidelines you initially put up.

Character A is the usual Milliways flavor; A' is the AU flavor. Character B is not going AU and is just in the Bar as their usual self. B knows A. However, B's player has decided to just have B and A' meet as strangers in AU week.

Thus far everything was clear to me. What was not clear to me was what people do and don't remember. I couldn't tell if what you meant was that for AU week, B does not remember A and the regular A history at all. Or is B allowed to remember that, but not allowed to think, "Huh, that's funny, A and A' look exactly alike and have similar names or parallel histories or whatever the similarity is, I wonder if Milliways is having another if its bizarre hiccups again?"

It's up to each individual player (even differing from charrie to charrie) what they remember and what not; that can range from complete oblivion to strange dreams and déja-vus up to what you suggest or even clear recollection. The latter bit might need a brief heads-up with the player(s) of the other character(s) involved, though. Communication is, as always, the key.

For example, I've already agreed with Write that my actual!vampire Hannibal Lecter will meet her very different AU Valjean and Javert, and regular!Hannibal will remember them, at least vaguely, and use that knowledge to annoy the regular versions the way he does.

I hope that answers your question!

Ah, I think this sounds like an answer for after AU week, when I meant during AU week?

During AU week, it would make things easier if B knows A' as either the person they have always known or a complete stranger, unless there is something that you feel absolutely precludes it -- in that case, though, it would be vital to talk things over with A-mun to agree on what degree of memory B retains of A while encountering A'. It is, however, more fun to simply accept A' at face value and meet them over. Actually, 'meeting over under different circumstances' was a favourite leitmotif of the AU weeks in Morningstar Manor, especially for established relationships (of any kind), right next to 'friends as enemies' and 'enemies as lovers'.

I see where you're coming from because for B and A to have always known each other they'd need a lot of background information and that made my brain go hmm too.

I was going to put up a 'background information' post of things that people might already know about AU Bonnie and then people could choose whichever they felt more comfortable. I think the idea is so that you don't have to have everyone have a first time conversation, and so that you can have established relationships (for the pre-planned people), but you can do it however you want (if I understand Maru right?).

Yes, exactly!! That's what the write-ups are for, so that everybody can hit the ground running and know who their charries are meeting, or have always known.

Compare my write-up for actual!vampire Hannibal Lecter -- it gives his interlocutors the basics, so the muns know what they are dealing with.
