The tiny tangle of limbs was now, unfortunately, blocking the doorway. Upon first glance this new arrival looked questionably like a little boy. After all, her hair was buzzed severely short, only leaving about an inch or so of brown tuft. However, this strange new being was wearing a dingy pink dress with a baggy, blue plaid shirt pulled over it, as well as white tube socks with yellow and green athletic stripes at the top, and matching white high-top sneakers. There was a thin stream of red leaking from her left nostril and both of her ears. And tiny her face was a little dirty, as if she'd recently taken a tumble outside.
She laid in an unconscious heap at the door, breathing labored and dripping blood.
Her name was Eleven, or El for short, and she'd just sacrificed herself to save her friends and kill the monster.
(Eleven is coming in near the end of Chapter 8: The Upside Down, after fighting the monster and evaporating with it. She'll most likely be coming into the actual game at a slightly different canon point, though-- but I'm excited to write her! Mun is Miche, pronounced mee-she short for Michelle and this is my first community on DW, so I apologize for my inherent newbie-ness. This is also my first time as El, so I'm sorry if I'm a little shaky at her, as well. But I was thinking about bringing in another character along with Eleven, since this place looks so amazing! :D I'm really looking forward to meeting and writing with all of you! <3)

His first thought is whether he can pick her up without doing any more damage.

She was so still, chest barely rising with each breath.

That's what decides him. He can't leave her here, and he can't see anything terribly wrong with her arms or legs, or her back.
Ever so carefully, he picks up the little body and turns towards the infirmary.

Eleven's head lolls gently to rest on the kind stranger's shoulder as he carries her off. The blood flow is beginning to ease, leaving sticky trails of crimson on her face and the sides of her neck.
In the back of El's head she can still see the faces of her friends, and it's this image that she clings to like a life preserver. She refused to let the darkness take her. She just needed to hold on a little bit longer.

Luckily, the infirmary isn't far away, and he lays her down on one of the beds while he hunts up something to clean the blood away.

The smell of sanitation hits her nose and terror grips her core. Is she back at HNL? She catches glimpse of a man with his back to her and she quickly shuts her eyes, pretending to still be knocked out. He isn't in the traditional white coat, but this might be a trick.
Eleven's mind is racing and throbbing at the same time. She's caught enough of the room to note the exits and she's considering snapping the man's neck and fleeing. But she doesn't, remembering the kindness of adults like Benny, Joyce, and Chief Hopper.
Instead she waits, like a rattlesnake in the grass, incase he tries to harm her. She's sincerely hoping he doesn't, but the feel of the room has her on edge.

When he turns, it's with sterile wipes in his hands. He studies her for a moment, seeing the tension in her that wasn't there before.
"Are you awake?" he asks gently.
no subject
Swallowing she nods but doesn't speak and her gaze shifts from his face to the clean wipes in his hands.
Is he helping her? Eleven looks back up at him with wide eyes questioning.
no subject
"You're safe now", he says, still calm and gentle. "From whatever it was - and I won't touch you if you'd rather not. Here."
He offers the wipes.
no subject
This isn’t the lab, not by the looks. The man doesn’t look like the ones with the white coats.
She cautiously reaches out and takes the wipes. Sitting up she watches him for a moment before she starts to clean the blood from her nose.
After that she touches her ears and looks at her hands. More blood. Eleven begins to mop up that, as well. This isn’t the first time. She hopes it’s the last.
Finally she looks to the stranger and asks, “Where are my... friends?” There’s that word. It’s one she’s come to like. Friend.
no subject
"They are, most likely", and there's a touch of regret in his voice now, "still back where you came from."
no subject
Instead, she was here. Wherever here was. At least the man was being sympathetic towards her.
The blood is gone now. She folds the wipes so the blood is hidden. "Can I have some?" She points to the water jug.
no subject
"Of course." He pours some into a glass and hands her both. "My name is Athelstan, and this place is called Milliways."
no subject
It fees like forever since she's drank anything and she quickly pours another and downs it.
The water tastes cool and washes down the tightness in her throat.
"El." She says while pointing at her chest. "Milliways?" She looks around. What a strange name for a hospital.
This next question is posed with an air of caution. "Are there any bad people here?"
no subject
He hesitates at that.
"...there are bad people everywhere. But everyone here abides by the rules if they want to remain in the community."
