That's one of the best things about having a character that's been around for the entire span of human existance and then some - the endless possibilities for backstory.
I'll second that. I was sitting there, tears in my eyes, trying to explain to my roommate why I was getting teared up... and failing miserably. Bah. Kids these days and their lack of appreciation for the classics.
OTOH, I think The Siege of Troy (a modern English retelling of the Illiad) just graduated to the top of my to-be-read pile...
Really? Oh... Maybe I should just try the Illiad again, then... it's just lately, with my attention span being the equivalent of that of a gnat, I'm not sure I'd be able to work my way through it...
