Alright. For those of you who are unhappy with me for one reason or another, I'm going to post an explanation of what's going on with Crichton behind a cut tag.

Basically, what's happening with Crichton is this. Crichton is a normal contemporary human who accidentally entered a wormhole and ended up on the other side of the universe.

In the 16th episode of season 1, Crichton meets up with an alien who creates a realistic simulation of Earth to determine if Earthlings will accept or fight them should they decide to visit. At the very end of the episode, the alien in charge of the simulation (who had been masquerading as Crichton's father) tells him everything that's going on, and lets Crichton go.

Three episodes later, Crichton is captured by a Peacekeeper named Scorpius, who uses a device called an Aurora Chair to forcibly extract Crichton's memories and display them on a screen. Through this process it is discovered that the alien had actually given Crichton the equations for creating a wormhole so he can go home. He had done this subconsciously, though, ensuring that Crichton wouldn't actually be able to remember the information; just that it would serve as a guide to give Crichton the equations when he was "ready" for them. Scorpius, who is after all really interested in any technology that can instantly transport an entire army wherever you want to send it, decides to get at this information by any means necessary. Luckily, Crichton is rescued before Scorpius can do so.

The Crichton that appeared in Milliways is the Crichton from the end of season 1, barely a week or two after the incident with Scorpius. It's not revealed until episode 15 of season 2 (hinted at as early as episode 4) that Scorpius had installed in Crichton's brain something called a neurochip. This neurochip, which contains a clone of Scorpius's personality and goals, is digging through Crichton's brain trying to extract the wormhole technology, then take over Crichton's body and turn him into, essentially, another Scorpius (not physically, just his personality), so he can return to the Peacekeepers and give up the information.

We're still a long way from there; at this point in Crichton's timeline, the neurochip has barely started trying to unravel the information there, and has no influence on Crichton's activities (and he hasn't started hallucinating Scorpius yet).

That is, until the experiment with the Pensieve. The black thread Tonks pulled out of Crichton's memory (which is, quite literally, the only part of this entire plot that was planned in advance) was the wormhole information connected to a part of the neurochip. The neurochip's now been split in two; part of it is in the Pensieve, part of it is still in Crichton's mind.

The part in Crichton's mind has begun to panic; it can't find the wormhole information, and that's the bit that Crichton's been hearing voices with. It's desperate to get the information back. The part in the Pensieve (who I will now nickname Harvey for clarity) now has free access to the info, and is about to obtain it, but it's no longer inside Crichton.

When Crichton enters the Pensieve (and the corporeal vs. noncorporeal bit will need to be dealt with), he finds Harvey about to get the wormhole information. Harvey has full control over the events in the Pensieve; he's basically God inside those three or four memories Tonks retrieved. The normal Pensieve rules simply no longer apply; the memories can be frozen, reversed, even interacted with, at Harvey's will.

Luckily for Crichton, the bit of neurochip inside his head has its own agenda. It only has the rudimentary function of the neurochip remaining inside it: get the wormhole information at all costs. To get the wormhole information, it needs to get Crichton out of the Pensieve. To get Crichton out of the Pensieve, it needs to stop Harvey. There's Farscape canon precedent for this, as Harvey has already saved Crichton from a Scarran, a Nebari, and a guy named T'Raltixx, all who wanted to do various things to Crichton. Harvey wants Crichton for himself.

So essentially, Crichton's got a neurochip in his head and a Harvey playing God, and the two are fighting each other, with Crichton caught in the middle. Crichton's job? To get out of the Pensieve alive and keep both neurochips from getting the wormhole info. Obviously he's teaming up with the neurochip against Harvey for now, but things may change, since I have *no* idea where I'm going with this.

As for the whole corporeal vs. noncorporeal bit, I don't think it matters either way in terms of plot, because all that means is that Crichton's body needs to be carried up to a room (the Pensieve already was). Since Harvey's controlling things here, Crichton consciousness is trapped in there, and won't be freed even if he's physically separated from the machine.

*takes deep breath*

Okay, I'm done :) Is this in any way similar to the Morpheus plot?

That hit post before I was ready to. Stupid mouse.

Those are the links to the two summaries already up, showing what is going on with the plot.

If you care to talk I am at AIM twintailmadb.

The rest of us will be showing up at 9pmEST to finish. If you wanted to talk to all of us (because this is a group effort), add me and we can talk when everyone is there.
