I wouldn't say that I necessarily avoid fandoms, but I don't often go out of my way to find them, either. Part of it is the fact that I don't watch television that much anymore -- I can't even get network TV on the television in my place -- and I still have a backlog of shows on DVD (e.g., Foyle's War) that I'm working through very slowly. I've really cut down on my book purchases and haven't had a chance to go to the library lately, so that rules out a lot of new-to-me book fandoms, too. I almost never download shows, not because of legality issues but because I'd really have to set aside the time to watch them on my computer...so I make my own excuses, really.

I really ought to write some more fannish posts in my LJ in hopes of tempting people toward my fandoms. Master Keaton and Genshiken for anime series, Foyle's War on TV....
