Entertainment without MuJi: Day One.

Please state the nature of the Entertainment Emergency
Canon Squee Post is Go
Name of canon in subject lines: skip over the ones you don't want to be spoiled for.

Alternatively: I just posted a pup into the bar for the first time in I don't know how long. Talk to me about long absences you've had, and why, and how you overcame them. Or what your pups have been up to since the last time they talked to one of mine.

As I said before, while I've been enjoying Lost well enough, it's not bad (er, except I really did not like "The Shape of Things to Come"), I am getting tired of the fact that it seems only white men get to be "chosen" or have "destinies."

Not that this is unique to Lost. It's just bugging me a lot now, especially with the recent deaths and the fact that both Oceanic 6 women are well-defined as mothers.

(But it does make Michael being unkillable all the more amusing.)

Yet again, you bring the undeniable logic. I also love how the Freighter of Srs Bsns is now all full of Mens since the one woman threw herself overboard.

NOT LONG, baby. NOT LONG.

YES, it is. Is that the new website for the movie, or just a revamped website for all things Reboot?

*squeeflail*

Also, Bob in glasses is the cutest thing ever.

Actually, I liked that bit. See, them having a sort of Katherine Hepburn/Cary Grant (except with more smashing) faux antagonistic chemistry is fine with me, as long as it's platonic. Anything other than that? Oh, honey, NO. Johns, Palmiotti, and Simonson spent a long time having Kendra and Carter finally find their way to each other and consummate their five thousand year long OTP relationship, and then Meltzer undid it all in one issue of the JLA.

It's for the webcomic first. The movie is happening...later.

Demeter and Will have been consistently loud for me though Will's currently out of Bar for plotty.

The Pirate King is my toughest pup, who's been on a slightly long hiatus. I want to try and EP him again but I need to figure out where in canon to bring him from and remind myself that yes I do a good job with him.

Since with him I get the fear of oh god, its Gilbert and Sullivan and Kevin Kline do I do a good enough job.

Also I've acquired a new headvoice in the form of Tumnus from Narnia, looking like the movie but really from the books.

Though I'm glad I have until June to app him since he doesn't even have a journal yet. Also in terms of since our pups last talked, Will's main thing is being with Kate I think.

Oh sweet, I thought it was quite obvious I was him but also months ago, chat somehow gave his headvoice a way into my head.

He's a lot of fun when he works but he's got a lot of levels going on for a musical pup so I worry. I think I'm going to try and EP him this week.

I think the point is still "people die suddenly in real life. Deal with it."

Sometimes I wish Joss would accept that one of the reasons we read or watch fiction, especially genre, is that in genre fiction, the good guys sometimes do live happily ever after.

I go so many different long absences because of Work and School, I worry I won't get new people to play with, just my old buds I've known for years and years and remember 'FLEUR WAS FUNNY!'.

The unicorns are funny?

There might thus be an advantage to the Essential (and Showcase) B&W reprint books. And if you miss the color in the Showcase books, don't worry, the script ALWAYS tells you when there is something yellow stopping Hal. It's as if the writers knew the comics would be B&W someday. (I love the Silver Age but the writing was sometimes utterly amateur.)

There aren't many similarities between Kendra and Dinah other than the birds in their nomenclature and them both being asskicking heroines, so I never thought of Roy and Kendra mirroring Dinah and Ollie. There's more of a Romeo and Juliet aspect to Kendra and Roy due to the obviously long running Hawk/Arrow war between Ollie and Carter. But given how obsessed Meltzer is with both father/son themes AND with with throwing gasoline on the fire of the Hawk/Arrow Wars, I'm not surprised that he ignored the established continuity of THREE different writers and tried to force Kendra and Roy together.

Besides, there really is not Hawk/Arrow war anymore. It's a fabricated divide that isn't supported by much recent canon.

HI FEATHER. Everybody should play with you. Always. No matter how long it's been or who you bring in, or whether or not your characters are funny. Fleur was lots more than funny although she's that too, and I can vouch for that personally.

Then again, everybody should play with everyone! That's kind of the point of the game.

And Fleur wasn't just funny, she was teh sex.

Last year I 1)Killed off a character due to canon 2)had novel-prep stuff to do 3)fell head-over-heels with a character that I did not get to play here and so played in othergame and 4)lost the SO of one of my characters

So I didn't feel much like playing here for a while. Did a house-cleaning, cut out everyone whose voice I had lost, kept a crack character . . . then Maru gave me [livejournal.com profile] firstcptjack, who is a joy to play. There have been times it's amused me that the closeted dead guy is my anti-angst, but there you are.

[identity profile] agoodshinkickin.livejournal.com 2008-05-12 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I know nothing about long haituses.
Haiati?
Hentai?

Good lord where the hell did THAT come from?

At any rate, it's not good when one loses a voice for a while. Or when one loses the drive to play a character because of so many OOC things. It's very sad, in fact. It makes the baby'versions of all major deities cry.
