It's sort of like meeting the parents. Sort of.
Crowley arrives, and makes a silent toast to friends departed. He looks contemplative, which prompts Angie to ask him what's up. Crowley is stubbornly silent, and, when he senses Iskander approaching, sends her packing. So courteous.
Iskander then arrives and starts to ask about the scars that mar Crowley's palms, but is interrupted by Ares. Crowley flails, and the reason for this soon becomes apparent as, even as Iskander courteously dismisses Ares, the war-god addresses Crowley as 'Demon'. Iskander has a 'wtf?' moment, and no sooner has Crowley managed to bullshit his way out out of that one than Tonks shows up, calling him 'Crowley'. Cue more flailing. Iskander, however, simply cracks a joke about Crowley owing money, and then he and Tonks are off.
Whilst they get to know each other, Iskander observes to Crowley, using Crowley's many aliases as a case in point, how people change over time. Crowley insists that he is still Phoenix, but names a few more aliases. They talk of the departed, and Iskander wants to know whether his tutor has Met Someone. Crowley reckons he can get away with a generic statement, but, at that precise moment, Aziraphale (a.k.a. Azraphalos) shows up, and Iskander is far too shrewd for his own good. However, the time-honoured tradition of the Significant Other meeting the Family goes off without a hitch. Yay. :D
