Change in AIM Status

Dear Milliways muns,

I've changed my AIM settings so that I can only receive messages from people who are on my contacts list. I had the buddies-only setting when I first came to Milliways, but it was pointed out to me that this was inconvenient for other muns who wanted to do OOC coordination, so I set my AIM account to receive messages from everyone.

However, I have recently been receiving automated spam messages with links that will probably put viruses or spyware on my computer. I have a Mac so I'm not to worried about that stuff, but I have been getting more and more of these messages lately - to the point where I'm getting several every day - and it's extremely aggravating. Hence, I've put the buddies-only setting back on.

By now I have many of the active players at Milliways on my list, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem. I also tend to make a habit of contacting people I'm threading with for the first time anyway, so I don't think this will be too much of a problem.

If for some reason I have not put you on my buddy list and you need to contact me by AIM, drop an OOC tag on any of my characters ([livejournal.com profile] feminine_menace, [livejournal.com profile] l33t_mouse, [livejournal.com profile] azure_mercy, [livejournal.com profile] synapse_circuit, [livejournal.com profile] alien_bartender, [livejournal.com profile] yinyangwizard, [livejournal.com profile] shoeless_ed, [livejournal.com profile] stargypsy and [livejournal.com profile] paragonsoldier) saying that you want to talk to me and providing the name of the AIM account you're using. I get LJ e-mail alerts, so I should get your message promptly and put you on my contacts list.

Sorry about the inconvenience, folks.
