Volunteer Scam Artistry!

Hi, kids!

As I noted a little while back, Dahlia Malloy is back in Bar after a lengthy, mun-imposed absence. She's also coming in from way back in canon - in fact, a little bit before the opening of canon, to be precise. This was, in its origin, my cheap, tricksy way of postponing unresolved canon trauma.

However, it occurred to me, not that long ago, that the Dahlia that's presently in Bar has one big, plotty advantage over the one that was. Dahlia's a scam artist and crook. That's how she's made her living since she was a kid, and she's good at it. But, early on in canon, she gets a good reason to break the law and defraud people only when necessary. As such, the odds of her ever plying her trade in Bar, once she gets to that point, are slim to none.

That is not the case, at present, since Dahlia is coming in from prison and, as such, would no doubt take the opportunity to get whatever she could from the other, unsuspecting patrons. So, I thought I'd put this out there and see if there's anyone who wants their pups to end up on the wrong end of one of Dahlia's efforts. The actual details of each scam/theft/whatever could be worked out with the mun of each pup, since Dahlia's versatile like that.

Of course, this would presumably end with someone catching on to one of her attempts, followed by some sort of unfortunate encounter with Security, which would be cool. But it wouldn't be cool if that happened immediately or very early on, so this is a post more in search of willing victims than a bunch of pups who would just love to catch the bad guy.

(Though, those pups should post, too, if they're interested! Just be aware that there can, as they say, only be one. Or a very small handful, at least. :D)

Uhm, so, yeah. Any takers?

It would be funny if she tried to pick Wilbur's pocket . . . might get more than she bargined for.

I have a queen who tends to come in quite bejeweled, and gets along with everyone. If she wanted to steal something from Amy, I think that could be arranged. :)

Ryan is a cop but he's a sucker for a pretty face so he could be scammed.

I would like to volunteer Mel for the Security end of things, because she can combine professional appreciation for 'no business here mmkay'

And because I can't think of anyone I have who it might be worth scamming.

I can see Sariel being scammed, possibly, as she wouldn't likely be expecting anything to happen. Not that she wouldn't be upset once she realized, but who wouldn't be?

So yes, she's scam-able. :D?

She could probably get a weapon/tool/whatever metal implement out of Teja; he's easy to scam, though, as he doesn't do book-keeping: he keeps an eye on his tab, and as long as that is looking good in general, he doesn't tally small things. He does notice the materials cost and payment for larger commissions, so if it's a heap of jewellery, or a very good dagger of the finest Japanese-style folded and structured steel? He will notice!

Oh -- I thought illicit knives and small tools were about the bestest thing to have in any prison, for fights among the inmates, escape attempts, or making other things the inmates are not supposed to have...

Yeah, there is that. But the image of someone trying to pick his pocket and coming out with a tentacle grabbing them won't go away now . . .

To trade them for said drugs?

But never mind -- it doesn't matter. If you can think of anything to steal or scam from Teja, go ahead.-

Yes, perhaps bonding was an incorrect choice of words for Bela, too. They can talk business, if nothing else. :-P

I'm hoping so
