I came across a superb Phoenix fan vid on YouTube once, but now I'm kicking myself for not bookmarking it because I can't find it. Waaah!

However, I found this one months ago and posted it on my LJ because I was so impressed with what these people did with a budget of probably less than a thousand dollars. Some very energetic and devoted DC fans decided to make a film of Mike Grell's seminal Green Arrow story The Long Bow Hunters:

The opening sequence and credits are very arresting, what with Shado's entrance and the choice of music and the credits. The time it must have taken to draw on Shado's tattoos alone is pretty formidable.

Sometimes canon is far better than anything made by fans. That's why, over ten years later, people still point incredulously at sequence of She-Hulk meting out a butt whupping to Dr. Doom and gape at all the erotic subtext. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnVWwom4_50) (I'm still not sure how this got by the censors.)

And turning to kaiju fandom, I always point to this one as an example of really fun editing: A remixed trailer for Godzilla: Final Wars utilizing the spectacular soundtrack to perfection. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iZfWTqcyaw) It must have taken hours and hours to sync up the percussion bits so well. (Also, this trailer has everything: hot men in leather trying to pound the crap out of each other? Check. All out kaiju melees? Check? Sydney and Beijing getting wrecked? Check! King Caesar? Check! Etc.)

And for a much darker take on what was already a surprisingly dark film for the genre: Killing Joke vs. Gamera. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gROXtuxlYcI) Perfect song for when Gamera went all Punisher while fighting Irys and took out half of Tokyo in spectacular pyrotechnic displays.
