Think it would help the cause to say "this is where Joss Whedon started?"

I never got into this show - it just didn't do it for me - but the cast was always outstanding. Bea Arthur and Betty White are among the great sitcom actresses (I know them from their work in the 70s on All in the Family/Maude and Mary Tyler Moore respectively).
