Yo!

With mod approval, the Infirmary is going to be gaining a Day/TV room, a non-medical observation area where patients can hang out when they're not quite well enough to go wandering around with drips in and stuff.

So, Guppy is looking for IC suggestions as to what people might like to see in the room, within obvious sensible limits. This can be entertainment things, comfort things, practical things, whatever. What puts your character off going or staying for treatment? What might make them stay a bit longer? That sort of thing. Medic-muns, would love your input too.

He's also going to be looking for anyone who fancies helping Raph and the Oompa Loompas with building.

Once suggestions have been collected, I'll do a doodle of what approximately we're making, and post again.

Any ooc comments, tag here, or ping guppymun on AIM.

There need to be big overstuffed chairs. Maybe bean-bag chairs too. There should be books to read.

There should also be puzzles, both 2-D and 3-D, to help people stay occupied. It would be nice to have a water cooler and maybe machines that dispense healthy drinks like tea and juice.

EDIT: Also, can Zhaan pick the color scheme? That means it will be blue with some silver accents. And very soothing. :)

Absolutely yes to the first two paragraphs, but Guppy and I call dibs on choosing the interior design, sorry >.<.

That doesn't mean I'm not looking for input on it or that I'd rule out blue and silver, just it needs to look warm and not hospitally, and pretty much everything in hospital is white, blue or silver. Or certainly in the hospitals I've worked in.

When the suggestions are in I'm going to build a rough design in Sims 3 so I can do a couple of different colours and put it to vote.

Perhaps Zhaan might like to provide some plants as her contribution to the decor?

Okay, sure! I know cacti are out of the question. How about some plants in hanging pots and little bonsai trees?

I have some more! This list should sum it all up:

  • Overstuffed chairs, some couches, and perhaps some of those big bean-bag chairs.

  • We could ask Bar patrons to donate paintings and wall hangings for the room (appropriate to a place for recovery, of course).

  • A skylight or at least a big window.

  • A built-in surround-sound system for the TV - ideally, the speakers should have decorated meshes so they don't look like speakers.

  • Music players with noise-canceling headphones for those who want to listen to music or nature sounds. The music players should probably be digital, sort of like an iPod but not portable. Maybe touchscreen consoles of some kind.

  • Plants in hanging pots, like jade plants and mint.

  • Potted bonsai trees. Ideally, a miniature model of a rocky mountainside against one wall, decorated with bonsai trees, moss, and bamboo.

  • A cupboard with a sliding door and shelves inside containing puzzles and board games.

  • Bookshelves! With books! :)

  • A sideboard with a water cooler and urns with hot water and juice. The sideboard would also have tea in various kinds of bags (that's what the hot water is for) and of course cups.

  • A big fish tank. Fish are very soothing.
