Anyone want to play pyramid?

As of this thread (hey, thanks, Sameth!), there are now three pyramid backstops out back. They're heavy but portable and usually have their legs folded up, leaning against one of the walls outside.

See that big unwieldy hard-to-look-at thing near Kara? No, not Sam, I mean the thing behind her: that's a makeshift pyramid backstop. It stands about 10' high, and for the curious, the center of the goal is at precisely 6'6".

Here's a closeup of the cage featuring the cheery and ever-humble Kara Thrace in action, so you can see it in relation to her 5'6" height.

There are also a dozen or so 5" pyramid balls out there for use with the backstops. The equipment is available for anyone to use, any time. All Sam asks is that you put the stuff back where you found it when you're done. Even if your character doesn't know anything about the game, it's not that much of a stretch to figure out that the ball goes into the cage. Voila, instant game.

This brings me to Part Two: pyramid, anyone? This week (hopefully) there will be a signup sheet going up; Sam & Kara are starting an informal pyramid league. Yes, there will be rules and training and all that, TBD when they see if there's any interest. Yes, the game will be every bit as cutthroat as it is canonically! Yes, there will be teams! No, I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I'm always open to suggestions.

If anyone has any questions or comments, let me know here or via PM. Looking forward to playing some real ball with all you Earthlings.

Since when is Sam hard to look at?

Your cheery and ever-humble Kara is SO READY. Not that she's going to stop snarking at Sam for having to bring pyramid to the end of the universe.

I don't want to log out of John's account right now (huge plotting post in his journal and I do mean huge) but Voodoo will be the first to sign up.

Hell yes he is. He's already coming up with names for the team in my head, but he's drunk (again) so most of them are incredibly stupid.

Too bad I have sent Ult. Ben back to canon and his rocky form or he'd be all over this. Course that might get confusing on the field of play...

I think once I EP him and he settles in, Palamedes would be interested.

Ha! AWESOME.

How sturdy are these backstops? I ask on account of Thor; I don't know if it'll ever come up, but if a pick-up game ever does come up in-thread, it seems sensible to check whether I ought to allow him onto the court...

Hahaha SO NOTED. Okay, if I let him play post-canon, it will be with a backup plan for getting somebody to magically fix them if he throws the ball straight through the plywood or something! Or make him do sheepish penance carpentry, or whatever.

Sheepish penance carpentry will probably be good for his character.
