Long weekend and no Weekend DE? This will not do!

So let's test drive pups as we've got a new App cycle coming! Also, it's been a couple of weeks since we've had one.

The coffee's gone cold as has the grilled cheese and chicken soup but Hank hasn't noticed as he's got a particularly tricky equation that just won't accept his solutions.

He should eat or take a break but what's the use of frozen time if you can't work on you thesis right?

Sam's muttering as he enters the Bar, not even aware that he's not in his workshop. This spell isn't working how it should and he needs to figure out how to fix it.

He walks into Hank's table and almost drops the parchment he's holding, "Charter, didn't see you there."

There are rafters in the multidimensional bar at the end of the universe. Can anything be cooler? Obviously the 13 year old monkey boy who's running and swinging around them doesn't think so.

She has to think about it for far too long. It's not as uncontrollable as the first one will always be. It's warring with wanting to be. She'd had time to work on that one.




In the end, what's simply is easiest sometimes. On both sides.
From one table over. "It looks like coffee has gone cold."

Hank would be cool with this except his coffee mug has been knocked over, the grilled cheese has jumped from the plate and the bowl of chicken soup is heading for the floor. Hank's reaction is instinctual and occurs before he can even think about it. He snatchs the mug with his right hand (catching most of the coffee from spilling), grabs the notes the sandwich is threatening with his left and his right foot shoots out from under the table to grab the bowl of soup before it hits the ground.

His mind catches up with his body and he blushes, all awkward as he puts everything back down and replies, "It's okay. It's crowded tonight." Beneath the table he slips his feet back into his shoes.

When things start to fall, Sam tries to help and blinks as Hank's shoe comes off,

"Sorry, I'll order you some new ones. The Bar surprised me."

His lips move as he looks up at the voice, echoing equations and logarhythms which short circuit when he sees the speaker.

"Pardon?" he says blinking. Woman, talking to me....

"No, no...it's okay," Hank says sincerely though shyly. "No harm."

He looks around and sees most of the tables are full and then thinks of all the times Raven has told him he needs friends. "The Bar does that doesn't it. Would you like to get something? I could share my table as it seems pretty busy right now."

"Oh, you're working and I wouldn't want to disturb you," Sam waves his piece of paper, "I can work on this anywhere and you don't want to lose your idea."

She doesn't laugh, but something in her emerald green eyes lightens, trying to tug at the corners of her mouth. "You're coffee. You've left it untouched for a very long time now."


She'd know. She's been watching since before that point.

"I appreciate that but my ideas seem to be going no where. May I ask what you're working on?" Hank replies stacking up his notes to make room anyway. He hadn't realized how spread out he had gotten.

Once its clear that Hank doesn't mind the company, Sam sits down and places his parchment down.

It's covered with Charter spells and sketches of various stones, "Its part of the magic of my world that isn't working. There's a point where its clear I need to do more to fix these Charter Stones but I can't figure out what it is."

He turns to look at it and picks it up to give an experimental sip. The grimace proves her point and he offers an awkward smile.

"Guess I got lost in my work. I'm Hank." As he says this he forces himself to look in her eyes and not look away. Nervously he gives a half wave. He's really not used to woman speaking with him.

Hank sits a little straighter in curiosity as magic is new for him.

"We don't have magic in my world, except in stories or mythologies. Well, they're those that believe it but I've yet to see any concrete proof. It almost sounds like your magic is like the trigonometry problems I've been working on. Is it like math?"

"Sometimes it is but not always. I make things and many of those problems are like math and engineering, this is more as the Stone is connected to the magical fabric of the land."

"So it's an art and a science?" Hank ventures definitely curious now.

[makesthings]

"I guess, its the Charter. I've yet to find anything else that's quite like it. What are you working on?"

[heartofthedream]

"Jean." There was a simple enough smile as she held a hand out, with a pointed glance toward his cup, asking for it, and not for his hand. Some things would go and some would stay. It was a delicate balance. "What are you working on, Hank?"

"Trying to prove the viability of super sonic flight. I know it works because I've done it but I'm having trouble proving it, reliably on paper."

[makesthings]

"Why do you need to prove it if you can show it?"

That doesn't make sense to Sam, results matter more in his work as Wallmaker. Very few people actually care about how he did it.

"Well on my world, you need to be able to reproduce your findings in any laboratory for it to become scientific theory. Just because I can do it isn't good enough. I need to explain it so someone independent of me can replicate it. So far I haven't been able to reproduce my findings on paper."

Mechanically he hands her the cup while he answers, "The viability of super sonic flight. I'm sure it's possible but the math isn't working right now."

"Ancelstierre's like that, one of my good friends is always annoyed at how the Charter doesn't work like science. What's causing the problem?"

Hank offers a self depreciating grin. "If I knew that it wouldn't be a problem any more. Maybe I've just been at this too long and need a break."

[heartofthedream]

She took the cup, wrapping her hands around it on both sides and staring at it down in her hands. Past the colors, and the physical construct separations, diving cup and coffee, dividing liquid and solid. Molecular simplicity and complexity both.

Focusing, as she spoke. Simple as breathing, as nothing changed obviously in the cup so far, "Do you have a planes to experiment with, or is this purely theoretical work?"
