Yeah, my Thor is an alien (albeit a handwavy sorta-semi-magical one) who's been worshipped as a god but doesn't claim any divinity himself, rather than a god in any Gaimanesque belief-is-metaphysically-relevant way. And the Norse myths as I'm playing it here are stories that were sometimes based on Asgardian fact and sometimes highly embroidered from what actually happened (or was actually prophesied) and sometimes just plain made up. So a different Thor from the Sandman one!
However you want to finagle that in terms of Sandman metaphysics is fine by me. (I have the advantage of, for once, having a character who genuinely doesn't care if other people know all kinds of things about him. This is what happens when you're an open and honest person who's grown up in the public eye! SWEENEY IT'S SO WEIRD TO HAVE A CHARACTER LIKE THAT.)
