(no subject)

Well, I guess after that ridiculous post here I feel quasi-confident enough to make a serious one:

Has anyone ever thought about a procedure for requesting characters? To clarify...Say somebody needs someone else to play a character from their canon, even a walk-on. Or wishes to see a character from another canon for plot development purposes. I wonder if there couldn't be a bulletin board system of some kind (maybe even :gulp: another community) for this sort of "casting call."

What do y'all think?

And yes, I have an ulterior motive for asking this, but no, I'm not trying to revive my old and highly controversial debate. So no worries there.

I think that actually makes a good deal of sense. It's even sort of thing could also be used to take care of another question that's come up recently - character trades. If there's a relatively unused character whom someone else wants, or wants to see in play . . .

(And don't worry about the number of communities; I've lost track of the number by now, so if no one's counting, then the extra one doesn't exist. Right? Right? *shifty*)

Erm. I only know the number because I friend, if not join, every one of 'em. We're at 20 now.

Anyway, I recall seeing 'character requests' pop up in the back room from time to time; so long as you're not asking for a potentially controversial character *coughnazicough* I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

. . .
Yes, you have a point there. I'm just saying that that's the current procedure for how to handle the situation. And the other idea, that it could be a sort of adoption agency for characters whose muns have to drop out but don't want to just abandon them, is a good plan.

You could always cross-post to the back room... or make a point of dropping in there to say "Hey, a character has been requested / offered up for adoption, if you've got an interest, pop on over to [whatever you name the community]!"
