 Welcome to another week. I hope yours kicks a lot of booty in a nice and/or fun ways. Anyone else think we need to figure out how to get a Christmas/Yule goat to Milliways? (Link goes to a Tumblr post with a small graphic and bullet points regarding the regular destruction of an annual Yule goat, despite government attempts at not having the goat burn down)

As for a topic...well, apps are just around the corner, so how about a test drive meme? Post in with a pup you are thinking of playing and see who will tag in! Feel free to use pups you've missed, would never actually play (for whatever reason), or tag in with yourself. Fourth Wall break down!

Oh hi dee ho an' what d'ye know, it's that Irish vampire again who keeps popping up in the test drives because his mun can't be arsed to properly app him until the second season of his canon comes out. Not to mention that the mun ought to be writing something else entirely instead of faffing about online, but that is not Cassidy's problem, so he is just going to relax over here with his boots up on a table and a bottle of whiskey plugged into his gob.

Kate knows Cassidy's pain. Her mun can't seem to be bothered to learn military culture and the basics of Judaism (despite her canon rarely touching on these two elements of her character), and so she is perpetually backstage, as it were.

This isn't to say she doesn't make her presence know however, which is why a pale redhead in worn jeans and a tank top (which allows her many tattoos to be shown to best advantage) saddles up to the bar.

"Whiskey, neat," she orders. It's been a night.

Cassidy's shirt sleeves are rolled up, so his own tattoos are exposed. At first glance they seem like totally random scribbles as if a child had drawn on him with a marker, but there's some meaning in there somewhere.

"Hey, nice ink," he calls out appreciatively, raising his bottle to her.

Kate glances over, catching the ink (which is nice) and a first impression of the speaker (which may not be as nice).

"Thanks. Yours aren't so bad either." She can appreciate unique work, since she's not one for template work. Just don't point out how typical her ink is.

He's never known a redhead to ever have a favorable first impression of him. That goes for blondes and brunettes as well. Basically the whole scope of womankind, really.

"Cheers," he says with a toothy grin. "Y'know what they say about tats, you can't just have one or three or a dozen."

Oh but he does seem like he could be fun. If he could be bothered to keep his hands to himself. Not that she's against a little fun, he just has the wrong equipment for her.

"Ain't that the truth. Of course, I've keep it done to under half a dozen so far."

A rough looking, darker skinned man walked in, with a regular scarf. This wasn't Vekta or that damn dirty planet Helghan.

The man sat down on a bench "Give me a strong one, any will do.."

"Ah, the itch'll getcha sooner or later, I'm sure."

He swings his boots off the table and gets up, tall and wiry and looking like the type to stage dive at a punk rock show (he's dived from much, much higher heights...), and ambles over to the bar.

"Name's Cassidy," he says, offering a hand that might feel a little cooler than the average normal human being's. Ahem.

She takes the hand and its temperature reminds her of another person inflicted with a similar infection as Cassidy's. Maintaining a pleasant smile is a challenge, given what happened, but Kate manages. Of course, scent markers likely will betray her sudden shift in mood.

"Kate. And just to be clear, I bat for the other team. If you're looking for more than conversation, you're wasting your time with me."

I wish I still had a god-level magic user about. I'd have them make a goat that rebuilds itself every time it's burnt down. = ]

I'd be one hell of a way to frustrate our local pyros.

"Perhaps one should see the movie before continuing?" says the fellow currently sitting at the bar. Whom he is actually speaking with is not apparent.

Cassidy is shocked, shocked that she would even imply such a thing.

"What-? You're sayin'-? You think-? Oh, oh, nonono, you've got me all wrong, my intentions are altogether pure an' innocent an' in the spirit of wantin' nothing more than a laugh an' a chat an' never once did it ever enter my mind okay so maybe I was going to try to hit on you a wee bit."

A beat.

"But I'm glad we're bein' honest."

Rico's eyes turned on the other guy and blinked ".... Stop talking gibberish, what the heck are you TALKING about?"

Mordo turns to Rico with a serine and composed expression.

"Please pardon me, I was speaking to one who is not here and our conversation would likely be confusing at best."

"I doubt they are listening anyway."

"She ain't gonna listen," says the Marine down the bar a ways. "Or he. They git it into their heads they wanna see you on their screen, they're gonna do it'n worry 'bout the canon proper later."

Rico's eyes slightly narrowed a bit but he raised a eyebrow and looked in between the other stranger, another solider type and Mardo, who seemed to be talking to nothing.. But he could be wrong..

Rico's eyes became a little more interested seeing the Marine but never mind.

"So, what's your rank.. solider?"

"Sergeant-Major, United States Marine Corps, founding member of the Greenbrier First and Only," Shephard answers promptly. "Commanding officer of the Polar Star-class icebreaker'n high latitude research vessel Borealis. Adrian Shephard, at your service."

It's a reflex.

"I do not mock you, nor play sport with you," Mordo replies with a smile, since the man seems guarded. "Perhaps I may buy you a drink by way of correcting any slight I may have inadvertently caused? I hear the fair here is vast and of high quality."

"He, in this case. He has looked into what hints of the story he may online, but such information in regards to myself are few." Mordo smiles with a hint of humility. "It would seem I am not worthy of attention."

Kate has to laugh at that.

"Sorry," she says with a nod over her shoulder towards the Front Door. "I just had to deal with one idiot who thought he'd get lucky at a lesbian bar and wouldn't see the error of his ways until the bouncers had to be called."

"And for the record, pure and innocent ain't all that interesting."
