Well, in the development timeline, Amascut's first appearance is as a lone nomad in the desert who accuses you of being a cat owner. So, she is a bit unhinged, but that might be because she was unfairly banished from every civilized place just because she is a redhead and has been out in the sun for a long time, so you take sympathy on her. In the now canonical timeline, you first meet her as the international crime lord/pirate queen behind the kidnapping of an al-Kharidian prince. So, she is all serious business until her hired thugs start demanding a pay raise and she pulls out mind-controlling magic instead of negotiating with them just before she sails off with the prince.
Both times, you don't actually meet Amascut; you meet one of her aliases. And so it is every time you meet her for the first time again.
Fairy Fixit is first encountered after the adventurer finds a way into Zanaris, and, well, she is just like she is always, chatty about her work, tending to use a bunch of jargon. As a caretaker and exposition NPC, she doesn't receive character development and her personality in Milliways is mostly all my headcanon. :D
