Brienne: Minstrels, and bright-colored banners, and a groaning table in a long hall in a castle, and everyone in lovely clothes and did I mention songs? Lots of songs, and lots of dancing. Everyone's invited.

...Brienne herself will be sitting in a corner trying to overcome her shyness for most of this party, but she will enjoy the sights and sounds.

Fantine: Her idea of a party is a violinist, some booze and some food, and a nice-looking area to dance in, and easy access to a courtyard or something where you can slip out for some quiet and to catch your breath.

Combeferre: "Here, Courfeyrac, you do it."

...if he really had to, it would be a fairly normal early 19th-century party that students and workers would attend. Nothing too wild, but nothing crushingly respectable either. It would be like Fantine's idea of a party, though with more food and better music and more attention to detail. He knows how these things are supposed to go, he goes to parties himself, and he enjoys them. He has no particular flair for throwing them, but he could manage if called upon.

Jehan Prouvaire: lots of poetry, lots of music, everyone in costumes, gothic-looking decorations in crimson and black, alcohol, surprisingly good food, and the occasional inadvisable drug.
