The reason why organisations like Warfstache Tonight and Jim News Network are on the air at all, let alone performing well, is because the media is encouraged to spread panic and confusion.

To what ends, I have no idea. But something has gone very, very wrong when you reach a point that someone is able to hire a news crew to help frame someone for murder (this is canon).

If Amascut had a conspiracy talk show, surely the fact that the only reason cats haven't destroyed human civilization yet is because they want to kill her first would be a constant throughout the show. Also there is a bartender in a major city in the starting areas of the game that claims that canon is just part of a video game and rants about magic boxes called computers.

The lack of concrete information about some things absolutely affects Rae's world. Some in-canon examples include

The human public's fear of vampires' ability to control minds means that whenever a master vampire deigns to be interviewed by human media, the station filters the image of the vampire's face, and runs the sound of the vampire's voice through anti-glamour technology, to keep it from being able to affect people hearing it, just in case.

There are conspiracy theories that suggest that members of the global council are so paranoid they get their entire blood chemistry altered every year or so to keep people from being able to hex or curse them if they were to obtain some of the member's blood.

There are wide-spread rumors that vampires that have been taken into custody by law enforcement or the military are being experimented on "for their own good", as the government tries to "cure" vampirism. Those same rumors suggest the vampires in custody are drugged senseless and set on fire at the end of what would have been their "normal" lifespan if they'd have still been human.

There are also conspiracy theories that state many master vampires have heavily invested in technology, with the advent of the invention of the globenet (in-world name for the internet), as it expands their sphere of influence into a realm untouched by the cycles of day and night. It's very much like the early 2000s-era fears, "don't talk to strangers on the internet because they could be axe-murderers," but with "they could be vampires" instead.

To be honest, 'the Chosen are all Odaiba residents' is probably a conspiracy theory that has made the rounds quite a lot, since people know they exist but not who they are.

There are probably conspiracy theory boards with people going "OKAY LOOK so remember how that huge vampire demon thing showed up in Odaiba? And Odaiba got walled off with fog for, like, three days? And that huge spider thing that showed up right in Tokyo Bay? Remember how that child snatcher seemed to operate exclusively in the Tokyo waterfront area? Why does so much stuff happen on this one island?"

Back when he was still doing his 'protect the kids' identities' thing, Gennai probably didn't even bother attempting to remove those theories after a while, and instead just created a series of sockpuppet accounts to vociferously argue in favour of them and then follow up with stuff like "The moon landing? You know that was faked, right? Steven Spielberg filmed the fake moon landing."

Preacher has The Grail. Let's see if I can explain this.

The Grail is a Top Secret Organization (it says so on their business cards, I kid you not) whose goal is to bring about global annihilation so that the One True Messiah can come to power. The Messiah being Jesus's only blood descendant. They have him. Yes. So, anyway, The Grail has infiltrated every government, all over the world, monitoring any signs of supernatural or unexplained occurrences or miracles (such as an actual flying pig, Abraham Lincoln, Jim Belushi, etc.) and they put an end to them, and substitute a mundane story as a cover-up. Kind of like the Men in Black with aliens, except the Grail operatives wear white. The reason for this is to squelch all possibilities of a false prophet rising so that the masses can redirect their faith to the One True Messiah at the right time. Which would be when they launch a bunch of nuclear missiles.
