Milliways Theme Song

I think it was Luna's player who said something about Milliways needing a theme song.

Having had about two hours sleep, I naturally sat down to write one, based on Les Miserables "Master of the House."

Here it is. Please don't kill me:

Milliways, the bar--
Intersection point
Where the laws of time and space are out of joint--
One bartender's a god,
Singer is a witch,
A vampire's the bouncer for the folks who bitch.
Bar for people lost or broken,
This is the Last Chance Saloon
You can have whate'er you most need,
Provided that you pay right soon.

Customers who come--
Some of them are dead,
Some of them are beings whom the gods would dread.
Whether rich or poor,
Humble or the great,
Enemies or lovers, bound by luck or fate,
Those who arrive here need something--
May not know just what it is.
Barfly legend says The Landlord
Might be in the redemption biz.

Apotheosis of bars,
Haven-home of dreams,
For some a place of nightmares, pain and endless screams.
Try not to get killed--
Not that folks would grieve--
If you die, you know that you can never leave.
For some folk it is Valhalla,
For some a place to grump and grouse,
Hell and Purgatory,
Source of myth and story,
Milliways, the alehouse!

My current addiction combined with one of my first addictions. You are brilliant.

*gigglefits* I-the-Madb love how everyone reacts to my posts over here semi-ICly.

Its a great song, though.

And i'm so sorry for missing your post a couple of threads down for so long.

Yes, yes indeed it is! *grins!* And bonus points to you for recognizing it, that makes three people in five years.

You are quite welcome.

And thank you.

*grins somewhat wolfishly* I know! I've done two full-day shifts at work, am tired, and asked Frar to rp Lucifer with Sario...I'm cruel, I think, but I need the amusement...

I've actually never seen it, either. I started reading the book in junior high, which made me want to listen to the musical. I have two versions of it on CD, and know all the words, but have never seen it performed. Props to you for making it through the book. It's good, but it's a fair bit of reading.

There! Better now.

*laughs and waves hands helplessly*

Oh God, now I'm seeing Sirius as a more attractive version of Thenadier. This can't be good.

Perfect :D

(Kassandra as Mrs Thenadier O_O It hurts...my...brain...)

I am something of a Les Mis fanatic - I own the soundtrack and a video of the Dream Cast live concert, and I saw it at one of the West End theatres last year when my family went to Europe.

You early-morning people.
We're going to see the Tall Ships today, and have lunch and coffee and all sort of other dainty things one does on an invalid's one outing a week, so I will IM you when I get back? I have pretty clear sailing, computer-wise, most of the time. Not restricted, because it's my Great Comfort And Consolation And Amusement ((coughs invalidishly in a Dickensian manner}}
I am intrigued.

[identity profile] samael-diablo.livejournal.com 2004-07-18 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Uh...yes. Yes I do.

DOWNLOAD THEM NOW. Or buy, if you're one of those strange types who do that *coughs*

Best songs: Stars, One Day More, On My Own

I iceskated to Red And Black (one of the student revolutionary songs) for an artistic competition. I am slightly unbalanced when it comes to this musical.

[That's a very good question. I'm not sure how Lucifer feels about the HP characters.]

That's just brilliant! I'll have you know that, as I was reading it, just starting singing it out loud because it was so great. *hugs*

*applaudes*
Bravo! Bravo!

Fab! I like it. :-D

although I now have this wretched compulsion to write a theme song for milliways set to the theme to gilligan's island...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a bawdy bar...

Oh bravo!!! *applause and flowers thrown on stage plus one pair of still warm underpants*

i'll be singing this for the rest of the day!
