And this is where you tell me I'm crazy...

So this weekend, with the Ethereals gone (except Aziraphael) and Door gone and Tom gone...

I had pondered, Saturdayish, for Kassandra to do her freaked-out prophesying thing, when nothing else is going on. You know, delve into the dark, mildewy bits that are Kassandra's Backstory.

...I know there are other classics geeks here... I can tell by sense of smell... ((it's the particular dusty reek of a Large Liddell, a copy of Cato and a side order of the Stoics.))

And I wanted to know what everyone thought. Because, er, the material? Not exactly kid-friendly. And it would be an intense thing to RP (not like I haven't done anything like that recently...) so some participation would be really great.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Rotten eggs? Half-chewed Milkbones? Chian wine?

Oi! I'm an ethereal too! *Bartleby sulks*

I think...

I'd love to participate. What sort of participation were you envisioning?

Are you talking about her just doing a prophetic freakout in general, or a specific flashback to her backstory? (you mentioned that earlier.)

I am a classics geek but Roman history is more my thing -- I know the story of course, but I haven't read the actual text in some time, my memory of Kassandra comes mostly from Trojan Women and the Oresteia.

Sirius would probably know it; he'd have studied her in divinations, so he'd know not to 1. hold Kassandra down or 2. come near her, lest he be rent limb from limb, bachanalian style :D

Well, my take is, if you're grownup enough to be RPing you're grownup enough to read a bit of ick, so I shouldn't worry about keeping it PG, but you might talk to Aziraphael/Villainny on that one, it's her comm after all.

I'm not much on Really Intense Roleplay but I'm sure Sirius could be obliged to pour her a drink and bring her a blanket when it's all done with. :D

I can do that. :D
sophistry: (classics geeks)

On the one hand, I fully approve of the technique of kicking the community in the arse to keep it on its toes. On the other hand...

*is a huge classics geek, and desperately doesn't want to miss this*

*bounce of happy*

Okay, maybe that's a weird reaction to Kassandra's past, but she's my favorite character from any Greek myth. Hurray for insane Trojan prophetesses of DOOM! (Clytemnestra's my second favorite, at least regarding the Trojan War. You can probably imagine my opinion of Agamemnon.)

Anthy and Crowley were both there, right? It would be kind of cool to have them around for it. :)

am a bit off today

Now that I've actually thought about what parts of her backstory you seem to be referring to, I can actually answer your question (sorry, I wanted to squee about K a while ago and never had the chance).

Um. Good luck? I think you could pull it off. If you want to do it, and you're worried about disturbing or upsetting people, you could always include a short warning in the first post (in fact, that would be a good idea anything, so people know that it's a drama thread and not a comic relief thread).

Might wanna go behind cut-tags, so that any younger viewers (and I have no idea if we have any) can choose whether to follow. Just a thought.

I had a thought for most of it to appear as comment threads... No idea if that would work.

[identity profile] miscellanny.livejournal.com 2004-07-09 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Just put the initial post behind a cut tag, and put in an OOC note that it's gonna get nasty. *g*

Your facilitation of such drama, insanity, weeping and heartache makes me think you're kinda evil. *vEg*

Oh my, no. That's my associate, Crowley, you're thinking of. Not me. I'm the *good* one.

I could try, but my time on-computer is limited . . .5-7 and 9-sleep AST is good. I'll read, at any rate.

Atlantic, actually(might've screwed up the acronym). One hour later than Eastern. It is now 3:30 AM, to put it in perspective . . .

No, Nova Scotia is actually connected to the mainland. Just that the coast juts out further east than you Americans seem to have deemed it.

Although, to quote your associate, good and evil are just names for sides.

Ooh! Glad I caught you. Wanted to say, you're rather erudite, for a rattus norvegicus.

Pity we can't spar at the moment because I have to... uh... I have a job... dammit.

But I admire your guts for picking a character you probably knew was going to get snubbed, maligned, and bitched at right out of the gate. Can't wait to see what kind of layers you've got.

Brie?

When Peter's not being a rodent or a friend-murdering traitor, he reads. A lot. I think you might call him a nerd.

(This is chiefly because I read a lot, of course.)

Pity we can't spar at the moment because I have to... uh... I have a job... dammit.

Darn jobs! Always getting in the way of what's important! Never mind, I'm sure we'll meet up in game at some point. I'm on Eastern time, by the way, but I'm an insomniac, so I'm likely to be on at odd hours.

But I admire your guts for picking a character you probably knew was going to get snubbed, maligned, and bitched at right out of the gate.

Of course I did. But I think the character will be well worth it.

And besides, all the snubbing, maligning and bitching creates conflict and new alliances and new conversations. Which leads to development of character. And changes in characters leads to new plots. Which lead to new storylines. Which leads to more fun for everyone.

Can't wait to see what kind of layers you've got.

Can't wait to meet the selkie either! (I'm of Scottish descent in real life, and I have a soft spot for selkies.)

And thank you for the Brie.

Sushi?
