All right, in a nutshell - and this might be missing bits: Morpheus, the original Dream, died when he gave his son Orpheus the death he wanted. I think the Furies took him, maybe. But anyway, the point of view who succeeded him was Daniel Hall, who was born in the Dreaming and in someone's head, and then Puck and Loki stole him away from his mom. And Hob doesn't like him very much. And by "doesn't like him very much" I mean AT ALL. I told Hobmun and she said "ahaha he'll tear him TO PIECES" or something to that effect.
(And if any of that's wrong, people who know more about it then me, correct me and thwap me soundly.)
The Sandman annotations by Hildebrand (http://www.stahl.bau.tu-bs.de/~hildeb/sandman/annotations/sandman.57.draft.shtml) gives this definition:
"The Kindly Ones":
Translation of Greek "Eumenides". Terrifying hags who pursue those who slay their own kin; really named "Furies", called "kindly" as a euphemism. As with many Greek myths, exact details vary: Aeschylus had a whole chorus of them; other sources number them at exactly three and name them Tisiphone, Alecto, and Megaera. Gaiman follows this version; we see exactly three Furies in Hades in the "Song of Orpheus" -- unsurprising, given the recurring Triple Goddess character. In "Three Septembers and a January" Desire vows to bring the Kindly Ones down on Dream's head (31:21:5), and it's implied in "The Doll's House" that if Dream had killed his great-niece Rose Walker this would have happened. Now Dream has killed his son Orpheus...
Encyclopedia Mythica defines Tisiphone as "avenger of murder," Alecto as "unceasing in anger" and Megaera as "the jealous one."
Ohhhh yes. I'm typing up the explanation here, but serious spoilers are involved for the series. I'm tagging them with white font, so if you want to read them, highlight the comment. If you don't want to read the spoilers, keep scrolling. :)
If I botched that, or fuzzed something up, someone feel free to let me know. :)
well, Hob not liking him isn't so much teh canon as it is my decision. As far as canon's concerned, Hob doesn't really care about Daniel one way or the other. But I made an executive decision that Hob would be slightly scornful of Daniel and refer to him as "the kid." Now that Morpheus has showed up all weird and dead, Hob'll probably take it out on poor innocent Daniel, who has "usurped" his old friend's position.
Well, he's reserved, so maybe he won't come in for a while. Dunno. (Oh, and if there's anything wrong with my inanutshell summary I gave up there, could you correct it? *puppy eyes*)
Also, is there any way to arrange the Miscellaneous Cast List *any* more coherently? It makes my brain hurt.
Also also, there are some awesome characters on there who have never come in, or who haven't come in for a while, or whatever, which just seems unfortunate. An idea: should there maybe be some kind of rule, like after your character is okayed, you have one week to come in before the chracter is released? And if you go two weeks without playing and without explanation for your absence, your character is re-released?
It just seems a shame that, for instance, Remus Lupin is taken but not being played.

This is actually really, really bad as it's going to totally screw with the character plotline that's just been set up for Morpheus. *cringes*

Second the motion. Alphabetically would be nice, either by character name or by fandom.
