A Brief Summary Concerning the Fate of Kittens
Early in the day, Sirius sees Paul wander past with His Imperial Majesty Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon, looking stormy, and is worried. That evening Hob comes in, worried, and asks Sirius if he's seen the kitten. Sirius says that Paul took it. Sam threatens to cry if the kitten is killed. Hob freaks out and is taunted, Ghostwriter-style, by Paul. When he completely loses it, Paul shows up with a peacefully sleeping Neb. Hob and Paul both have tantrums at each other. Eventually it all comes down to the ladder. Paul says all he wants is for Hob to listen. Hob tells Paul he can't give him peace, but would if it were possible. In the absence of that, or ladders, he gives Paul a scout knife so he won't be helpless, or trapped, in his "dreams." It's sort of sweet. Paul goes off to relive his death, and Hob collects his cat and goes to sleep.
