A question

Just something I was wondering...

Does the whole "Put a penny in your bank account in modern times, eat like a king here at the end" work? Is that a viable way of people dealing with tabs?

According to the Guide, "this is, of course, impossible."

It gets up to 42 before Happy Hour.

I thought it was nineteen. Tells you what I know.

No, no -- nineteen is for the lunch specials.

Forgive me if I'm misremembering, but I think that's how Asar-Suti's mun has been playing it.

Yes, exactly, that is how I have been playing it.

As this financial device is canon Milliways canon (=Hitchhiker's), I supposed that it was viable.

And nobody ever protested, so I suppose it works.

On the other hand, the Guide also suggests you can do it retroactively; that is, if you return to your time, you can start such an account that will pay your Milliways tab, if I remember correctly. That is even more complicated, and makes your brain break even more, so I'm not doing it to myself or my purple Dark God.

That's how Andrew's been covering his tab. One of the first things he did when he got home was to start his Milliways-tab bank account.
