Calling all opinionated bastards!

A plot in the works requires me to have a great deal of knowledge about what other characters think of Hob. So, if your character has an opinion of Hob, positive or negative (hopefully I'll get a lot of both), I'd really appreciate it if you could leave me a brief note in the comments detailing what it is, and preferably from whence it stems. The more detailed the better! It will be put to good (or maybe nefarious) use soon. *eg*

Thanks in advance!

YAY. This rocks, seriously.

Mostly Regulus thinks Hob is a misanthropic bastard who's got some seriously mixed-up priorities, is a bit insane, and has been hurt. And also he thinks he can be terribly sweet, though cynical, and that maybe now he's got a cat he'll start being less snarky. (And I don't know if that's positive or negative, really. Sorry!)

Destruction's only exposure to Hob was a nice, laughing stroll they took together on a beach in the Dreaming, with Morpheus... ...after Morpheus 'died' and soon after Daniel 'took over'. But, I'm open to suggestions...

Mat thinks that Hob's all right after they chatted at the lake party. A bit weird, perhaps, but amusing enough, and a good guy to kick back and get drunk with. So, a slightly positive interpretation.

Liz is a bit more complicated. She doesn't especially like Hob for the insults he hurled at her, and how he treated Peter. But she does feel sorry for him, and would probably give him another chance if he acted at least civilly towards her. So not neutral, really. More like a negative view, tempered with the possibility of transition to a more positive view.

I can try to go into more details with these, but I don't have time at the moment. Feel free to IM me at CivilAsAnOrange if you'd like me to expand.

Fate hates Hob for Going Against The Natural Order Of Things.

D'you mean...what the character thinks they think of Hob, or what they actually think?

[identity profile] weallscream.livejournal.com 2004-07-26 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...can I just leave it at: Paul thinks Hob ain't as dumb as most mortals, and from Paul that's a huge compliment?

I dunno. Do I have to know? Positive. He reminds her a little of good brother. She thinks he is confusing.

I could be more helpful if I knew what it was for. :D

Michael doesn't know Hob, but hates him anyway on principle. Too much talky, not enough smashy. And he thinks he's so clever.

I don't believe Moiraine has ever met Hob.

Captain Jack thinks he's a rude bastard and not worth his time or effort.

IC: *grins wickedly* Quite.

OOC: No worries. :) It did make total sense IC for Hob to do that at the time, actually, and was taken accordingly.

Morpheus.

Hoo boy.

Morpheus thinks Hob is a man who has somehow undergone a complete personality change, and not in a good way. He remembers being friends with Hob Gadling, but this Hob Gadling is so far from what Morpheus remembers that he is dismayed by it. At times, he hates Hob; for wishing him back into death, for repeatedly shoving Dream away, for his betrayal.

Akane is reserving most of her opinions, as she only met him for a few minutes with the whole shattered glass thing, but she does think he was being a bit pig-headed not to just accept help straight off. She also respects him, for the exact same reason.

Although Barbie has never actually met Hob, it's safe to say she sees him as a sad, pitifully ugly man. *smacks Barbie upside the head*

Oh, I'll do my best to make sure she is, if only to be something that can be quite easily melted down, burst into pieces, or have her head chopped off. It's all about the Barbie torture.

As a newb to the group, as well as someone who's never heard of your character (my bad, yes I know... ;) ), I really haven't got an opinion one way or the other. All I can say is if you've got a great plotline brewing, run with it. The antics & hijinks will be fun to watch either way. =)

QX - Belgarath out.

Death likes him. She likes everybody. She thinks he's being an asshole, though, and she doesn't really want to get yelled at again. So... she's avoiding him. If he wants to talk to her, he can talk to her.

Of course, all that's kinda immaterial at the moment...

Lyra doesn't know Hob very well, but she has a certain amount of respect for him for helping Anthy.

And he called her a bit with an aleafywhatsit, too. :) Pan heard it if Lyra didn't...

Seriously, though, Lyra really hasn't seen Hob on a bad day, so she's not really bothered by him yet. If you want her to be bothered by him, we can arrange that. See you tomorrow night. :)

Oh, if you ever want to plot with me, my aim is ilistara.

[identity profile] pjpettigrew.livejournal.com 2004-07-26 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter thinks that Hob is a seriously messed up individual who is sick of having everyone he loves die and therefore abandon him. Peter also thinks that Hob needs about two centuries with a Savile Row psychiatrist. Peter despises Hob for hurting Liz, treating Regulus' love as if it were trash and humiliating him (Peter), but at the same time he pities Hob for being so wretchedly broken and lost.

While Raph has never actually "met" Hob, he has spoken to Death about him.
Raph's thoughts?

Wow, what a miserable bastard.
