I sincerely apologize for the wankfest tonight, everyone. It was not my intention to start one, and I'm rather horrified that I did. So, to everyone who has been annoyed by tonight's drama, I am very very very sorry. The best description of what happened, if anyone cares, can be found here, written by Lizzie-mun.

I do intend to play the original Destruction, but due to tonight's events, I'm going to wait until after I get home from vacation in late August to bring him in.

And now I am going to go to bed, because I am very very very tired.

Misunderstandings happen. None of this was your fault. The apology was a classy thing to do.

Yeah. 'classy ' is exactly the first thing I thought. Well, got the 'c' part anyway.

Ok, that's enough. You are being childish and rude and extremely innapropriate. Grow the hell up.

It's. a. game.

[identity profile] job26.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
yup.
And history is recorded by the winner.

Enjoy!

No, seriously. I can love the game and not all of the players, can't I?

You will not descend to the level of personal insults. If I see it again, you will be banned. Clear?
young_tmriddle: (Default)

[personal profile] young_tmriddle 2004-07-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
You sure can. But when you cast veiled slurs of a vile nature against one of those players, then it's not okay anymore.

And you know what? I'd refrained from commenting on the other thread, because I didn't know any of the details.

I am, however, getting quite the impression of your attitude, [livejournal.com profile] job26, and I'm afraid that word also starts with "c". Crass, to be perfectly precise about it. Perhaps you could try a different approach?

I think that almost no one would blame you. I, for one, being thoroughly unfamiliar with the canon, am fascinated with comparing the two characters...

*MASSIVE HUGS*

It's all right, sweetie. You know we love you. It was a misunderstanding, and you did everything you could do. Tom-mun is right. The apology was a lovely touch.

*lots of hugs*

Tom-mun and Lizzie-mun are right. Stuff happens, and apologizing was classy and lovely and sweet.

I'm sorry you had to go through this.

[identity profile] dramaturgca.livejournal.com 2004-07-27 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Since comparing is no longer an issue...

I think you handled the whole situation beautifully. I salute you.

I'd like to apologise for my handling of the matter. I'm an un-diplomatic person, but I shouldn't have let it get out of hand like that, and I shouldn't have let names get dragged in. I'm sorry.

As an impartial observer...

[personal profile] saddle_tramp 2004-07-27 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
... who has watched this from the sidelines, I've been keeping my mouth shut because I'm just a lurker. I love reading Milliways and the Back Room though, and I find I just can't keep my two cents to myself any longer. If I make it worse, I'm very sorry in advance.

I have RPd online for around seven years. I spent five years in a Dragonriders of Pern group (at one point I played the headwoman and seven riders, plus their dragons and a flit, lol) that I finally had to leave because I couldn't keep up anymore. I dabbled a bit after that in other RPs that looked good until they were in play, then I spent about two years in "pop" RP group, most of that working as a mod trying to straighten out the unholy mess that one vindictive woman made of the place. I finally stopped RPing altogether, mostly because of my experiences as a mod.

I've seen everything from abysmal to fantastic RPs and mods, and I must say I think you have nothing to be sorry for. Problems with a character or a mod should not ever be handled the way Job26 has seen fit to handle things tonight. Even if I didn't see the 'whole' story, I saw enough to be pretty certain you acted admirably.

Milliways is a rarity among RPs. The mods are involved in the play of the group in various threads and plots (often at once!) instead of just sticking to their 'pet' plotlines and ignoring the rest. The players and characters are for the most part superb, and the cross-fandom play is especially well done. There aren't many RPs you can say either of those things about, especially not ones so large, and I don't think I've ever been able to say them both about the same RP.

If I had time to do more than read Milliways, I would join in a heartbeat and count myself lucky to be part of such a wonderful group.

*tips my hat to you all and then goes back into my corner with my 'Crowley/Aziraphale' flag to keep enjoying the best multi-fandom RP I have ever seen*

You have seriously just made my day. This is my first RP, not to mention my first time as a mod, and my confidence, that had, I confess, taken a beating after this wankfest, has just been boosted to the power of about three billion. Thank you so much.

First RP and first time modding? Wow.
You're doing a splendid job.

I second the fabulousness of your moderating ability. You did a great job being respectful and firm in just the right amounts :)

Seriously, Milliways is a fun, fun place, and you and Nny are two of the people who work hardest to make it so. We appreciate you muchly.

Lady, you need to stand up and take a few bows, and so does Nny. Like several others have already said, you're doing a fantastic job. Don't let anyone tell you differently!

*applauds* I may have half-heartedly complained about the angst, but that was just because you played it well enough to get to me. You rule.

Thanks. Very very much. I wasn't here to deal with the wankage, unfortunately, and I worship Sophie for what she's been doing to sort it out. It makes me remember precisely why I no longer sleep. But it's nice to know we have support, from people inside and out of the comm. Cheers. *g*

You're very, very welcome, but I just call'em like I see'em. *grins*

You both most definitely have my support, and it looks to me like you've got the support of most of the rest of the group as well. That and the quality of play in Milliways tells me you're doing a wonderful job, over and above what I read IC and OOC. If you weren't, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun for people to play here, and the group wouldn't be so much fun for me to watch. lol

And sleep is vastly overrated. ;->

Woodpecker-mun here.

>:D< Don't worry about it. You did right. This has been the least wanky RP I've ever been involved in; it had to get wanky at some point. *schnugs*
