(no subject)

So apparently there is some amount of interest in a milli_secrets comm.

We're willing to entertain the notion, but a couple of things:

a) Will this be a passing fad? Very very cool, but short-lived?

b) Were we to create such a comm, posting would not be anonymous.

So, comm. What say you, RE: those two points?

[identity profile] fire-and-a-rose.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
1. If it is, comm's deleted. If not, hey, fun.

2. Generally speaking, they're not MEANT to be anonymous. And you don't have to make them for your OWN muses. I just thought for the purpose of the meme, it would be fun.

[identity profile] sendpeanutbtr.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
1. I, personally would be interested in it for the long term.

2. That wouldn't be a problem.

[identity profile] gorlim.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Anonymity would not be as much fun. It would be, after all, basically an art community. I think it would be fun. I've lately been doing a lot of photoshopping stuff for my puppets anyway, and since I can't put the images on deviantart because the components are used without permission, it would be a nice place to share stuff like that.

I think it would be interesting if there could be an RP aspect to it -- if other characters could read the postcards but they were treated as anonymous IC. This is a crackthought from a sleep-addled mind, but something to consider.

Anyway I'm in favor of it, whether as an art-sharing comm or some extension of RP. It almost -- ALMOST -- makes me want to app Frank as a character, which would amuse him immensely, I'm sure. ;)

Regarding point two... Have someone else post for you until the week is up and it's time to reveal who's who. Or send postcards to the comm maintaner, who posts and then we all guess for a week in comments.

Or don't use any of my ideas. But I'd watch the thing.

The maintainer idea is the best solution yet.

Cause I want people to guess, dammit. :D

[identity profile] pee-jee.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Guessing is, indeed, half the fun of it.

[identity profile] the-woodpecker.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
*has posted three for bernard alone ahahahahaa*

[identity profile] clowdyah.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Three? I got five for Tony, yo. :>

In that case we don't even need a comm, just a journal.

...with a shared password perhaps? Among a few trusted people.

[identity profile] doc-venkman.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
1. The pictures are addictive once you start making them. *pets her shiny new secret picture* As long as there's readily available links for the comm? I'm currently having that problem with WNN, hence I've never posted summaries for my characters there.

2. That's acceptable, especially since it's standard around here for most comms.

[identity profile] pee-jee.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
What sort of problems are you having with WNN? As one of the mods, I'm all curious.

[identity profile] doc-venkman.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Just accessing it regularly since it's not listed as a standard link like the Back room, and most of the milli comms yet, and I've haven't gotten around to bookmarking it yet since I have a ton of bookmarks that I need to reorganize.

Surprised the Millichannel link is still up since that's now dead. Is there some way to switch the Millichannel link for WNN? It would make things easier.

The request has been in for that for a while now. I'm assuming it will happen as time permits.

[identity profile] doc-venkman.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, good. Will be keeping an eye out, thanks for the info, mods! :)

Will try to summarize where I can, but I am liek wo behind on all of my various pups summaries.

Thanks. It's there now, should be accessible for everyone.

[identity profile] pee-jee.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'll admit I watch everything from one of my characters' (varies, depending on how I'm signed in) friendslists under my Everything But The Bar filter.

None of the WNN mods have access to the main bar's setup, so we couldn't change that even if we knew how-- But I'll drop a line to the mods about it, as you've reminded me.

[identity profile] doc-venkman.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Again, thanks, hope that's cleared up soon since the other's practically a dead link nowadays, more's the pity.

[identity profile] the-woodpecker.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the only one who can read code effectively is Sophie. And she was gone for six weeks. And the layout, considering how many apps we get per day, is not a priority.

But I'll tell her the request was made. I never saw it, myself, but regardless, I'm sure it was buried in the mod email account long before she ever got back from Spain.

[identity profile] the-damsel.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
a) I like it, but only if it's anon.
b) In theory, you could make a random LJ just to post there. They're free, after all. That's really the best suggestion I have for that.

OK, I'm actually going to have reduced internet access soon, but what about a journal, which doesn't have to be a community, linked to a gmail account which people can email the cards to.

Every week a post is made by one of the maintainers containing all the postcards (one per pup) and people guess in the comments. The answers are posted the next week.

I'm willing to help with the set up, at least, even if I'm going away in a few weeks.

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the idea of it whether it's anonymous or not, I just like seeing what people come up with for their characters. It's kind of like the what you don't know about me meme, but visual. And as for if it's a short-term thing? Meh. I'm with Mir. If it fizzles out, the community gets deleted. It's not like it's a Huge Big Thing or vital to the running of the RP.

[identity profile] clowdyah.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering that I've made five for Tony, not counting the ones I've made for Audrey, Claudia, and Dina (and the ones I'll make for Trinity, Rod, etc), I say I'm all for it! It gives me a pleasant distraction from my writer's constipation (what some people would call block), and I love making them.

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love it. I suck at making them so it'd give me a chance to practice. Sounds like a great idea.
