And it's summary time, once again.
Last night, Moiraine was having tea and conversation with Anthy, when Peter Pettigrew stumbled into her table. Those who have been following this storyline may recall that there is noticeable distrust on both sides. (Ah, the dangers of being Aes Sedai... or being around Aes Sedai, for that matter, at least according to some.)
However, Moiraine immediately notices that Peter is obviously very sick. (Dionysus arrives, and expresses concern as well.) Moreover, she is able to identify the problem -- he's been tainted with a form of Shadow, and it's poisoning him. (Peter knows, although Moiraine does not, that this is due to the backlash of demonic energy from the recent attempt at healing the angel.) Moiraine offers to help him, and though Peter is both suspicious and terrified at the thought, he is by now desperate enough to accept.
Moiraine begins to weave Healing flows, while Dionysus looks on. However, Desire is also watching from across the room, and points out the scene to a horrified Elizabeth, who races over, concerned and angry-- and interrupts the process, with near-disastrous results. Dionysus pulls Elizabeth away, allowing Moiraine to finish healing Peter, after which she collapses.
Peter is all right, thankfully; Moiraine is too; and Dionysus is blessedly helpful. Healing theory is discussed, and Moiraine asks how Peter came to be ill in the first place. Concerned for his friends and still wary of Moiraine, Peter is circumspect in his answer, but Crowley intervenes at this point seeking and finding Peter's aid for Kassandra. Although Moiraine says nothing, conclusions almost certainly have been drawn.
Elizabeth, meanwhile, is absolutely furious, and does not hesitate to express this to Moiraine... who has a temper of her own. Things between them start to get distinctly unpleasant. Peter intervenes, explaining to Liz that Moiraine has just saved his life, and a distraught Liz soon apologizes. Moiraine accepts quietly and soon withdraws, noting that Peter and Elizabeth have things to talk about.
They do, indeed. Very quickly, expressions of love and loyalty are exchanged between the two of them. Although it is not at all explicitly sexual, it's rather passionately beautiful. :)
