(no subject)

Ever since that thread a while ago discussing the music people listened to while RP-ing or associated with various characters/ships/stories/whatever, the idea has been taking root in my mind. And, you know, it's feasible. It really is. So I'd like to know what people think of

The Milliway's Soundtrack Project

What I'm proposing is, essentially, the creation of a Milliway's soundtrack. Or, rather, a score and a soundtrack. I'd make a post to which players would reply suggesting tracks for inclusion. Then, we'd need kindly souls to volunteer webspace on which to store these tracks for download. The mp3s or wavs would be distributed amongst these volunteers via the magic of IM file transfers and uploaded. Once I'd collected all the links, I'd make a new post with the track listings, instrumental/choral type tracks going into the score, and songs into the soundtrack.

So, what's the general public opinion on this?

Here is the track list to the Tom and Door Milliways Mix. I am sadly lacking in the technical skills to upload any of these songs, but I can burn copies of it! I have all of the music on cd and not in .wav files or anything. But it's a really cool cd (if I say so myself.)

1. Evening Falls - Enya
2. How Do I Undo the Damage I Have Done - The Heads
3. Bring Me To Life - Evanescence
4. Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
5. Joga - Bjork
6. Pure - Lightning Seeds
7. Trouble Me - 10,000 Maniacs
8. All or Nothing - Dirty Vegas
9. In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
10. Collide - Howie Day
11. Accidentally in Love -Counting Crows
12. Head Over Feet - Alanis Morrisette
13. Clocks -Coldplay
14. Lust - Tori Amos
15. Tomorrow in her Eyes - Ron Sexsmith
16. Wash Me Clean - k.d. lang

Great Idea. You are aware there might be approx. 472542651397 tracks coming together ;)?

Excellent. Krycek's player and I have been exchanging MP3s which remind us of Milliways for the last week or so. We are so, so sad. :D

Oooh, fun. (Except my laptop and Yousendit don't get along very well, it seems, but I'm sure other people could find the stuff.)

A world of yes.

...and, yes, we're going to wind up with Way Too Many Songs, unless some suitably critical brain can be found to winnow down the submissions a bit.

That sounds fantastic. I need a new playlist.

If I can get it to cooperate, I think I have 100 MB of online storage I can volunteer. Possibly an additional 250 MB, if I can persuade the photo servers to let me use my space there for storage. Don't quote me on the last.
