POLL

So, I've come to realize, these past few weeks of RPing Tonks, that there's lots we don't know about her in canon. That's fine -- more leeway for me, in terms of playing her.

But one big thing we don't know is what house she was in at Hogwarts. This is a pretty important distinction in the Potter-verse, and it's got me thinking. I've pretty much avoided making any direct references, but I thought I might ask you all what your opinion is, and go with the majority. I myself am leaning towards either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but feel free to try and persuade me otherwise. Cos, you know, it's fun. :)

Please Sort Tonks.

I would put her into Gryffindor because she's a straightforward, lively, independent person. And she seems like the type who runs headfirst into trouble for her convictions.

Gryffindor. Absolutely!

I would say Hufflepuff, because she is loyal and true. And a wonderful friend.

I'd say Gryffindor because of her bravery and impetuousness, and also because I wouldn't be surprised if her mother was a Gryffindor. Blacks were all Slytherin, with the known exception of Sirius, who was sorted Gryffindor. Andromeda and Sirius got on well, so there's a very good chance that whatever placed Sirius in Gryffindor over Slytherin, Andromeda also shared. I could also be rambling and barking up a completely wrong tree.

I love Hufflepuffs, and don't think they get enough credit. I think a case could be made for that House, too, and would love to see Tonks in it. Overall, though, I'm leaning towards Gryffindor.

Am of the Hufflepuff!Tonks camp -- every image I've ever made will become AU if ever that's contradicted... (she likes stripey socks, my Tonks)

*laughs* I've noticed! Thanks for letting me use one of your Tonks images for her icon, by the way. Your characterization of her is my favorite by far, of the Tonks art I've seen.

No Remus/Tonks, though, as of yet. Sorry. *grins*

*snickers* Well, Remus is still MIA from the bar, although he's got an account...and Charlie might be a little put out. *g*

This is true. We have quite enough drama for the moment. *boggles at the extreme Ic-ness of Hamlet's procrastination regarding Ophelia*

Ooooo, a hard one!

Well, Tonks is very Gryffindor in the way she faces life and her career choice. Always leaping into danger and does not ask questions before she acts.

Buuuuut, she is very loyal, cheerful, and a rather clumsy. Maybe she could have be a crazed paranoid Huffy when she was young. It could be the secret reason she became an Auror, to uncover the horrors of the Ministry! *dun dun duh!*

Gryffindor. Absolutely.

I need to reread Book 5 before I'd be willing to come down firmly on either side, but I agree that the toss-up is between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. I don't see Tonks as a serious candidate for either of the other two houses.

A point to bear in mind: remember, it's not just about what attributes you have, it's about what attributes you value.

I put my vote in with Hufflepuff.
They're the most overlooked house, yet their mascot is the freakin' badger.

Absolutely Hufflepuff. Cause...then she could have watched Charlie from a table across the room...

Actully i say Griffendor liek how Nevelle's a Griffendor.. i mean he's good at Plants and every thing.. he should be in hufflepuff but he's not you know?

I vote for Hufflepuff. Their salient characteristics are: justice; loyalty; patience; faithfulness (that's what "being true" means); and hard work. That's Tonks, all the way--loyal to the point of risking her life for her friends--or even for the sake of mercy; hungry for justice; patient; hardworking; unfailingly faithful. Finally, I'd like her to be from Hufflepuff because it is such an underestimated house. I'd like people to realise that Hufflepuff characteristics are noble ones, and that Gryffindors do not have a patent on courage.
