Same deal as Tonks-mun with me. I sadly don't know your character or his canon. I second her suggestion about maybe trying another character. Alternatively, you can just dive right into the game. Comment to other people's entries, strike up conversations. Other than pinging another character off-game, and plotting something out beforehand, that's really the only way to get going. Just find a character who will talk back, and as you're talking, you often find your own kind of plot. That's all I did with Liz. There's always jumping into a chaos thread like the various bar fights, Snow's delivery, and Door's healing. It throws you in with the other characters quickly, and gives you something to talk about and bond over later.
*shrugs* That's the best I can offer. All it takes is one IC relationship, and you have something to work form. You just need to find it.
Liz and Tonks still need to have an actual conversation. All of their interactions have been during chaos or fallout from chaos. This must be remedied, and soon.
I know. It's terrible, we've been so bad. It's just this stupid auror thing she's got going on...always feels like she has to jump in and heal and/or bring the smackdown. One of these nights I'm just going to make her ignore Teh Angst and have a beer with Lizzie. *grins*
*laughs* Or a glass of wine, unless she wants to try to introduce Liz to beer - which might be amusing, now that I think on it.
Don't worry, I completely understand. Before I got sick, I had two back-to-back nights of chaos - Peter's healing, and then Snow's munchkins. Liz does her own jumping. Now she's sick. Maybe she'll learn to give it a rest. ;)
Ah yes, ye of the conversation regarding rainbow swords and the getting-into of pants. I remember. *grins* Well, it's good you stuck around. We're not terribly scary people. It's just a matter of finding where you fit in.
Also, just searching out people with a question is a good way to start. None of my characters have taken in any major way, but they've each got a niche and some people to talk to...
I love Belgarath as a character and would love to play with him, but I really haven't been in Milliways for the last week or so and now I sort of have to abandon you all. It's so sad.
The choice of character does seem pretty crucial, as far as character play goes.
I like both the character and the canon, but haven't gotten involved with the Old Wolf because Moiraine's had no reason to notice him, I'm afraid. And my other character, Jack Sparrow, would love to have a drink sometime, but he's in and out.
Eh. As others have said, try diving into a few interactions. :) If that doesn't work, then you can always character-shift.
Sadly, all I can really say is what the others have said. I myself started with a Discworld character before I decided to go with Sario...he isn't in big plots, but he hangs around and has his little niche of people and will some times to talk others if I'm on.
You could try another character, and see if that helps at all though.
I'll agree with the others - give it one last shot at forming a niche - have a few conversations, attempt a plot, then make your decision; if you choose to scrap, pick someone who you feel more comfortable with; someone you think you identify with, perhaps.

Pick somebody, offer to buy them a drink, and see what happens. Whether they take you up on it or slap you, either way, something's going... *g*

So your best bet is probably to make some friends here IC, so's to collect some goals by proxy.

Poor Rupert didn't get play. That's sad in this explicitly sexual atmosphere.
Oh, by the way, would Tim be interested in exorcising a random evil blob in the next hour or so?
