Query

Yes, I'm still on hiatus. I'm starting a job tomorrow, so forgive me for not playing. Life's been... complicated.

To my question.

A few months ago, I got permission from the mods to app a certain Steve Irwin. I never actually FINISHED the app, but the journal was created and everything. [livejournal.com profile] lizzidluvr, if you must know.

I'd intended him to be a crack character, but I'm wondering now, with recent events, would people still be cool with me bringing him in? He's been a personal hero of mine for years. I wonder if anyone might be interested in.. .I dunno... maybe just a brief appearance, or a plot, or something? In memorial, and so forth?

also: new mun journal is [livejournal.com profile] eigref. There will be no future posts to this journal, I'm posting from it because I have access. :)

I didn't know he was dead until I read this.

Personally? I see no reason not to stop making fun of someone just 'casue they're dead. But then, I am British. We treated the bombing of London as material for comedy gold.

As one of the token Aussies?

I would have no issue with you bringing him in. He died doing what he loved, and as IB said, someone's death is no reason to stop making fun of them. :D

Ooh. Yes, I concur with all above comments.

I wouldn't mind seeing him around the bar.

I agree with the above. I think it'd be nice to see him around the bar, actually.

By all means, bring him in.

If for no other reason than the chance of Irwin meeting Strahan in animal form and the hilarity that would invariably ensue.

Call it a tribute to Steve, if nothing else.

I agree as well. In fact, I think Steve himself would love it. :)

Steve had a good sense of humor about himself, it seems. I think it would be entirely appropriate.

I loved Steve a whole lot, and as long as you show respect for him, I think it would be delightful.

I also didn't know about his death until just now, and my brain locked up a little.

But also: Totally, bring him in. I honestly think he'd love the place.

I would love to see him in. On a regular basis, even.

After a suitable interval, though, because right after the man's death ... doesn't quite feel right.

I'm with Batya - after a bit. As another one of the token Aussies, I'm cool with him being in the bar, the man'd probably get a kick out of it, but right now?

It lacks a certain something.

I won't be as cool with the idea, but not for the reasons you think! I actually thought a lot about applying for him myself years ago. But, I read and also heard in an interview with Terri, his wife, around that time, that she has never liked the mocking of her husband. Her husband never seemed to mind, but she was offended a great deal but a few of the SNL sketches they did.

I think, you want to, sure. It's your thing. But may be wait a bit? Not only to be polite of the recently died but to may be prevent us from being sued by a grieving widow that might not see the humor in something that is funny.

Third 'Token Aussie' comment. I'd be fine with it. I'd like to honour him somehow. But I also agree with Heather. Not straight away, plz?
