'Prom' Part II.

Okay.

The real idea behind having a 'prom' was to provide some sort of gathering for the younger characters - the teenagers. Proms were the only thing I could think of, the only social event, that are 'officially' for teenagers.

Since people are having problems with that idea, I'd like to propose a formal party/dance out on the lake, or by it - for the young 'uns only. The only adults allowed, if any, would have to be chaperones. Ginny's player and I are trying to arrange this, so we would like to approve them.

There could still be some sort of cheesy theme, which we're working on.

Anyway, feel free to offer suggestions here now.

I suggest elephants.

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet. If we use elephants, can we (okay, I, there isn't really a we) chaperone? Hell, could we chaperone anyway? We have plenty of time to... use.

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
you're brilliant, you know that?

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
that was very eloquently put. I concur.

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
this is true. I have a bad habit of saying things that noone can really respond to. Very bad habit. *smacks fingers* Naughty.

[identity profile] what-a-guy.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Then all is right in the world. :}

[identity profile] seeks-sixfinger.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
This really has nothing to do with a prom at all, but since I'm here, I'm going to shamelessly usurp this thread . . . did you still want to do an Epic Duel? 'Cause Inigo's itching to draw that sword on somebody ;).

[identity profile] seeks-sixfinger.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, lessee. Inigo is less than kindly disposed towards Todd anyways, having basically been hired to guard Liz against him. And now everyone's telling him not to go after the person who's really hurting Liz, which is Desire. He wants to take it out on somebody - so if Todd gives him any little reason to be annoyed at him - you know, being mean to anyone, saying anything that could be construed as insulting to Liz, anything - Inigo would be pretty ready to snap . . .

The only thing is that now Anthy is gone, and hence unable either to witness our Epic Duel, or to become engaged to Todd. :( Alas. But there is the George complication . . .

[identity profile] seeks-sixfinger.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I know, but it seems a bit awkward to engage her to you without her even being here, relationship or no . . . :p

As I said the other night, I'm perfectly willing to have Inigo wounded in a Dastardy Underhanded Move from Todd and his gun ;). Inigo is not terribly bright. He'd be totally caught by it.

[identity profile] seeks-sixfinger.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's all in a good cause. :p Long as he doesn't end up dead. I like my Inigo.

So should we wait for Anthy to return, or give up on the Anthy Connection and do this sooner (sad though that would be)? Totally up to you.

[identity profile] seeks-sixfinger.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good. :) Night!

back to prom

[identity profile] moroccofor1year.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Penny wants to go to prom, She wants to know if there will be a band there. I like the elephants idea but oh oh maybe it could be an Arabian Nights theme with desert decorations and papier mache camels and a casbah with punch... ooh ooh

Re: back to prom

[identity profile] moroccofor1year.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
You can't just suggest such a great idea and then not do it. :P Get Penny all excited and then nothing happens. I see how you are.

well if you want a really cheesy prom theme there is always some kind of under the sea thing. The Arabian Nights theme would be fun.

Damn, how silly to be opposed to such a small thing. Oh well... annoying though the rude comments were you just can't please all the people all the time. I thought it was a great idea though./ Maybe it was saying the word 'prom'?

Re: back to prom

[identity profile] moroccofor1year.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Good, I didn't precisely lik my prom but I think it would be a fun idea, some kind of singles mixer, or something but that might not fly either...

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, good idea. Any way it could take place next weekend (or later) when I might have the internet and time? *g* 'Cos Anthy and Michael would both like to go, in that strange "I would rather kill myself but my mun says I have to" sort of way.

Also, regarding the Inigo thread, omfg that would be hilarious and sick and scary, so feel free to do the Anthy Connection. (Though I'd rather you wait. Want to see this. :D)

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-08-19 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
(Yeah, both teenagers, or in teenage-looking bodies, whatever.)

Anyway. I am back, sort of. Tomorrow I'm going on a plane, and then there'll be orientation (*g*) but I should have some time this weekend. Hope I will, anyway.

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-08-19 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Starting college. :D I don't really have any idea how much free time I'll have, and how much of it I'll actually spend on the computer, but it wouldn't take too much to do this. :-) And it's a weekend. So.

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-08-19 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, orientation is a bit heavily scheduled. Tomorrow I won't have internet access, probably, and Saturday I'm not free till about nine thirty, and will probably be getting to know my roommate. I just hope Sunday they leave us alone for a while.

Whoo, challenging. *waits*

Hee hee hee - I am envisioning cheesy decorations, silly dancing in formals, and the squid tapping its tentacles to the beat of the music.

Yeah, prom as a concept would be very foreign to many of the teens here, but a Ball would fit right in. HP universe characters have had a Yule Ball, after all, and it was a big to do.

You do realize that the adults will crash it if you try to keep them from it. Cos our characters? Not so much with the rule following, for the most part. Which would be funny in and of itself, and possibly cause some good plot development. And chaos.

Tom won't let Door out of his sight (erm, unless it's held on his puppeteer's class night) and he's 27, so definitely not a teen anymore. Bet he could intimidate Todd into being named a chaperone. :P

[personal profile] young_tmriddle 2004-08-15 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Door is, ahem, 17 - which is legal age in England! And besides that, she's a very old soul. And Tom's only 10 years older. So, um, yeah. :P

OC: I could help, but my time will be very limited soon.

IC: I don't think Tom would have a clue what to do. Oh, and they won't even be back 'til the 24th, so it might be a moot issue for the two.

[identity profile] itakesouls.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I really like the idea of a formal night. And not just for te younger ones, but for the adults as well. It could be a way for all the characters to try and relax after all the shit that happened in the bar recently.

And by relax I mean That chaos will ensue and someone will more than likely get hurt.

[identity profile] itakesouls.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
would be very funny!

[identity profile] timsbooks.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Tim is so up for that.

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2004-08-15 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm . . . the complainers will likely quiet down a bit if you make a couple changes - call it a formal or something, but not a prom - I have to agree, it has the same negative connotations with me as 'Gym Class'. Also, let more people in, not just teens. Smooth things out, and Snow will even volunteer as a chaparone.

[identity profile] be-holden.livejournal.com 2004-08-16 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I really hate this idea.

[identity profile] be-holden.livejournal.com 2004-08-16 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a big introvert. I didn't go to any of my hs proms or things. And Holden would find it all very phony and stay away.
