The Accidental Threadzilla
Well. Tonks' recent threads have been pretty much the most random things out there. Last night...the randomness exploded.
Holden is first on deck, offering Tonks a drink and telling her about his run-in with the "frog-person" (Gollum), which resulted in a couple of nasty gashes on his cheek. Tonks heals him (which involves physical contact), and Holden implodes. He then accidentally mentions Aziraphale, which puts Tonks right back into her deep blue funk. Holden, however, is very sweet, literally.
Crichton arrives, eager to know whether Tonks has talked to Dumbledore about using the pensieve. They make plans to experiment with it, and discuss cross-cultural experiences.
Tom arrives, with snake, followed closely by James. James brings the good news that Mogget has provided a cure for Sirius' blindness, and happiness abounds. But then Tom and James start to introduce one another, and things really start to get interesting. Tonks tries to explain, and James is ridiculously forgiving. All is right with the world.
And then...Cara arrives.
James is demonstrative, and Tonks is shocked. Tom has to leave, but first kindly makes sure that Tonks is okay. She assures him that she will be, and he goes.
Meanwhile, James tells it like it is, and poor Cara is wildly uncomfortable. Tonks, though, is quick to assure Cara that she doesn't hold anything against her -- it's just a bit much to absorb, all at once. James tries again to reason with Tonks, but she's concerned how Harry would react. James thinks Harry is made of stronger stuff than that, and assures a still-uncertain Cara that he doesn't want her to go. Tonks gets a little pissed at James' inability to grasp her concerns. James gets shirty, too, and all is very tense. Tonks breaks down, unable to bear the thought of fighting with James. He, too, backpedals. They reach a tentative peace, and Tonks leaves. James and Cara re-commit, very sweetly, and leave.
Gah. Such an emotionally draining thread. But laurels to all involved, especially James-mun and Cara-mun. Tonks is not going to keeeel you, I promise. *hugs*
