The field was wide! The options were many! The interviews were... long-winded!

But the time has come. The following characters will be joining the_woodpecker, mnt_mike, henry_jones_jr, collects_ears, and wellthrownstone as bartenders at Milliways Bar. If I call your name, please proceed to ways_staff, press "Join", and add your input to the scheduling post. Unless you are Anakin Solo. He will be approaching bartenders to share their shift, and doesn't have a solo (heh) shift of his own yet. First come, first served, read ALL directions carefully, and new tending and serving shifts start t-minus NOW.

SERVERS! If you want more shifts than you signed up for (I know several of you did) please go back to the post and request them!

• There are two Head Barmen: Michaelangelo and Bernard Wrangle. They have equal pull, and equal power as far as you are concerned.


• There are two Assistant Managers: Indiana Jones and George Cooper. They can order you around a bit, but their players can be trusted not to be power-mad dicks. They've also been working at the bar for ages. Use them as guides and as mentors and as examples. Tag team with them like you'll be teaming with Anakin, if you want. Mix it up.


• There is one Bartender with seniority over you: Garion. Garion's been tending Bar for, gosh. How long? Two years? More? I think more. He can be in and out, but given his longevity he's another great resource.


• The bar schedule operates on Eastern Standard Time. That is the way we have always played it, and it works, for simplicity's sake, so that shifts are clear.


• If people want it, I can pull together a bartending tutorial with links to examples of different styles -- for instance, some people like to announce specials (this is generally a happy hour/evening sort of thing to do) and some people like to go really old school and give a full menu for that time of day's meal. Some people just step behind Bar and start serving.


• In addition, I can give a tutorial on Bar: what she can do, what she can't, how she is, how much godding of her is okay for you. Would this be useful?

Otherwise... Hey, kids. Start manning that bar, and start tagging those serving and bartending posts. Things have got pretty haywire, and we take full responsibility, but things can't get better without a little effort from everybody.

Once everyone claims a shift or two, I will post an IC hiring post.

I've been playing here for two years, and I think the tutorial on Bar is a good idea :) 'specially to new 'tenders/servers?
