MEME! Because we love them yes we do
OKAY so.
Last night I had this really funky dream where most of the bar ended up with daemons thanks to an explosion from Sefina Pekkala's magic (yes I know I spelled that wrong, and yes I know it's weird-but I fell asleep reading the book) I think half the bar ended up getting like-big cats and/or dangerous animals, which made me curious. In Terms of Meme-
According to Wikipedia:
A dæmon in the Philip Pullman trilogy His Dark Materials, is a physical manifestation of the soul of a conscious person. Many characteristics of a daemon match the concepts from other cultures or psychology.
If your character had a daemon, what would it be and why?
If your character's from HDM-no cheating. You already got yours. :D
Edit
And since I forgot, and this doubly applies-
police forces in most major cities use police dogs to track criminals, sniff out illegal materials, search buildings, and do other jobs human police officers can't do as well as a dog can. If a psychic cop can't do that, then-well. *sniffs*
Clearly, Matt's daemon would be a police dog, specifically a german shepard, since that's what the LAPD uses most of the time. *eyes resources*

DESMOND'S WOULD BE A POLAR BEAR.
... I will have to think more for the rest...

Oh god that'd go over well on the island. BRILLIANTLY well.
Jack: ....WTFPOLARBEAR!
DeS: ...don't shoot brotha. Don't shoot. He's um-my soul.
Locke:...O_O. I KNEW IT.

I may have to think more about the others.

Luna's would have to be a platypus, because they're completely bizarre.

Mac's would be one of those slightly prickly, standoffish cats that melt into a puddle of fur when you hit just the right spot behind their ears.
Mercer doesn't really count, but his would be a crane. Go back a few millenia and it would have been a dog.
no subject
Not necessarily. There was a ship's captain in the first book who had a seagull daemon, if memory serves.
And Wash's daemon would pretty much have to be a bird of some sort.
no subject
Lenny Inchpot: beaver.
Salazar Slytherin: AHAHAHA Snake.
Renfield: Spider.
Lock Shock and Barrel: an afghan (dog) siamese (cat) and a scorpion.
Sally the Ragdoll: Definitely a cat.
no subject
Eustace would have a
dragonterrier; kind of annoying sometimes, but smart, loyal, and determined.Carmela would have a monkey (not a golden one, though).
Ann would have a
really BIG monkeybutterfly.Guinevere, for some reason, strikes me as a stag.
Charles . . . lord, I have not the faintest idea.

a-whasamacallit. Mao.

I can't deciiiiiiiide!
Nobody say 'Vampire bat'. No one.

Susan Pevensie would be a swan.
Ingress, I just realized, would be a lion. HOW IRONIC.
Governor Swann would be a St. Bernard.
no subject
Lissar would have a large, moon-white dog. *coughAshcough*
Dream...is not applicable.
Semirhage would have...I don't know. Something beautiful, but deadly. Black widow spider, maybe?

Will: Duh. Kirjava, the black cat, is his perfect match.
Caspian: I think I'd given him an albatross before, but I can't remember. It seems to fit anyway, though.
Anne: ...is really hard to tell. A fox, maybe?
Tia Dalma: ...gets
the Greenwitchnone. For obvious reasons.Finch: A bloodhound (the even have simliar facial characteristics!)
Utena: I'd say a horse. A white one. ^_^
Jack: I'm thinking your general mutt.
No. HAH I AM WRONG. Jack's is totally a coyote: they're both damn annoying and persistent.
The Prince: Gets a cricket.
no subject
Vesper: Would be a tabby cat (One man/person cat, sort of distainful, doesn't like to be hugged) or a fishing cat because of the ability to look harmless, but do lots of damage, takes a while to open up-etc.
The Master Chief: ....Canon says he's "Like an Eagle. Fast and Deadly" So I'd say that before it settled it might flirt with the idea of a bird, but then he'd settle into a wolf.
The Penguins: .....Are penguins. I want someone to have a penguin daemon.
John Preston: I'd say originally that Preston would get some kind of bird of prey because he's a loner, dangerous, but also like- The Eagles were into monogamy-so originally I'd say he'd either be a eagle or a like-doberman. I'd lean towards the eagle.
Jon Snow- Has one. Ghost is his daemon in more ways then one.
Sarah Radcliff- Probably something small and dangerous that you'd never expect to be. Like....a lemur.

Ishamael a.k.a. Elan Morin: A rat. We see him with them in canon, and he's known for being very fond of them, though he often tortures and destroys them as frequently. It also is very nice given his status as The Betrayer.
Asmodean: a nightingale. These birds are said to have the most beautiful of all songs, but they only sing at night.
As for the others... I don't know, maybe a mole for Nina? *grins*

Either an Imperial eagle. . .
. . . or a draft horse. Gentle, hardworking, and with a hell of a kick if it ever wants to act up.

And yay, another DC character. I think we know what Kendra's daemon would be.
no subject
A dog too. Beagle or maybe a hound dog. ...*got Old Yeller stuck in my head for some reason*

Mordred'd be a wolf. Pack-animal at heart, pettable sometimes but dangerous.
Fiona should be a cat, but she hates them.
Morgan is a magpie :D
no subject
Or possibly a lioness, but I'm going more monkey.
no subject
Rachel: Herself, or some odd clone, probably in hound mark up. It's all the beast she's ever needed.
Abe: A Red Monkey.
Khem: Leopard of course
Wish: Butterfly, or Dragonfly

Shelley's is a kitten. Tiny, innocent, leaves messes everywhere but completely unintentionally, and is so cute that most people don't mind; mostly helpless but has very sharp teeny-tiny claws - and apparently also has nine lives.
Harth's is... hmm. Something vicious and lonely. From a species that has no trouble breeding with it's siblings. Ahem.
Jack's is... don't say rabbit, Amy... Oh, wait, I'm stupid. Clearly, it's a pterodactyl. *eyedart*
Havelock's is a lizard of some kind. Still and silent most of the time, then fast action usually ending in something's death.

It is notable that fairy-wrens are socially monogamous and sexually promiscuous: pairs will bond for a long time, but mate with other individuals.
So that makes me giggle. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

Male lions don't hunt. The female lions do (Mary Anne's the one who stayed in Vietnam) They tend to be very set as far as mates go, but they're not above shagging other male lions.
