PB stalker meme. Which I liek totalli just made up ;D

A lot of puppets here come from literary and other canons not conductive to having a preordained PB.

A lot of people find PBs by molesting Getty and Google for their favors and entering random model names until something comes up that looks about right.

But does anyone ever follow up these celebrities and end up finding something you actually LIKED? Or actually HATED? Or actually just sat there going "what the crap?" This can work even for PBs from films. Ever stalk their actor into other things? And did they end up fitting your perception of your character, or building on it? In short, Are you a PB stalker??

I stalked Faramir's PB, the glorious David Wenham, into some lovely films. Like, for example, Cosi, in which he is a raving pyromaniac. :D And a miniseries called After the Deluge which is so gorgeously breaky.

I then went on to enter the name of Miniver Cheevy's PB into YouTube and discovered more crack than in a crackhouse cellar. :D
Emily - in which there is a cat, a bowling ball, and a lot of feathers. Warning for Adam Green's dancing. @_@ I imagine this is EXACTLY how Miniver dances though. XD
Carolina - more with the WTF? Warning for some slightly obscene lyrics.

And Megara's non-animated PB, who is some random model... yes... I... I stalked her too.

Into a KNITTING BOOK. Modeling knitted.... thingies.

And for an upcoming puppet, I even stalked David Spade into watching.... what David Spade does. And regretted it. But he still makes a great PB. :D

I do it all the time - the only charrie of mine that has a pre-ordained PB is the new one I apped at the beginning of this month. And I don' just do it for my own charries - I do it for the PBs of my charrie's friends as well.

[livejournal.com profile] asar_suti's PB is one Andrew Robertson, whom I first noticed because [livejournal.com profile] schiarire was using him as PB over at the old Discworld RPG, and I got the DVDs of the two hole movies he's ever been in and took screencaps. When the Discworld RPG lapsed due to Milliways, where everybody wandered off to, I had all these caps going spare and reused the PB for 'Suti. By now, that fellow is playing in a totally unknown indie band in Engand. Waste of a good actor, really.

Later, I saw Adam Green on the telly and was flabberghasted because he looked so much like Sooty's PB, so I remembered teh name in case I ever needed to change PBs for whatever reason. I recycled him for my Sooty-esque character in MM, via the AU Sooty I used for the Hollywood AU the 24 people did; that's where that charrie's name came from.

And I can tell you that 'Emily' isn't all that weird, compared to 'Can You See Me' (http://www.box.net/public/09b5d1z24a)!

I've got a lot of music by HIM because Ville Valo is on some of Gil's icon, and those of Sal's charrie Charlie in MM; I watched loads of movies with James Frain (originally my Captain Tantony in the Discworld RPG, now a lawyer named Lajos Toth in MM), Brendan Fraser (a character of Sal's in MM hat she's retired in the course of the plot that one of my charries fell for in a bad way in the line of plot), I watched movies with Dean Stockwell, and the first season of 'Quantum Leap' because Sal suggested him for the PB of an NPC in MM who later turned into my character and acquired enormous amounts of plot, and of course I use him for Tower as well because the MM charrie has a tower, but of the office kind (he's an evil construction company boss), and then of course there's the most over-the-top PB of them all that I use, Rudolf Nureyev for the ghost of a ballet dancer in MM, and since I've started researching him a bit more in-depth I've found the most amazing things... And I'm totally not apping him in his fictional version from Colum McCann's novel 'Dancer' because he's to over-the-top even for Milliways; he'd run into Jack Harkness and they'd melt down the bloody place...

And now I think I'm running out of comments spae for run-on sentences, anacoluths, and squeeing.

Wow, I totally thought Suti's PB was Ben Jelen, because he looks a bit like him.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehh!! Nah, Ben Jelen used to be the PB of Atreyu, from the 'Neverending Story'. He wasn't mine, he was [livejournal.com profile] lyricality's, and she played him as a few years post-canon...

I did listen to his music because of that, as they were friends.

Aheh. [livejournal.com profile] notboundnow's entire characterization comes from me loving the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. All Prometheus's speech patterns, style of dressing, means of interacting -- it's all pretty much one complicated songfic, in a way. *g*

I have probably seen the very worst of the Ewan McGregor catalog, because of [livejournal.com profile] renevatio. And loved it. I haven't managed to go much further for my other pups, since they're really pretty confined to their canons (Scar, Gromit, Mr. Gumby) -- though I did once buy Birthday Girl to see Nicole Kidman as a Russian mail-order bride for Satine. :-D

I stalked (you know, through pictures and TV shows and stuff) [livejournal.com profile] fighting_mad's PB wayyy before I ever even considered her as a PB; Mariska Hargitay's talented, man. I've also seen a few movies with Ioan Gruffudd purely because I use him as PB for [livejournal.com profile] twostandingby, and I saw Failure to Launch purely because Justin Bartha was in it.

I don't play [livejournal.com profile] eiattu_pride, but his PB is probably the closest I've come to stalking; I've read gossip columns and things about him (in my defense, while on the search for screencaps!).

I keep casual tabs on both Tina Majorino ([livejournal.com profile] q_in_training) and Alan Tudyk ([livejournal.com profile] flybywash) to see what kind of projects they're doing, what they're saying in interviews, and stuff like that, but it can be hard for me to make time to actually sit down and watch those projects sometimes. Back when I first picked up Wash, though, I rented Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story solely for Alan in a pirate outfit. Also, because I clearly hate myself and enjoy making myself twitch in uncontrollable horror, I tuned into that one CSI episode he was in a few months back.

You know. The one where he plays a convicted pedophile? Yeah, that one.

*twitch*

Quinn Allman ([livejournal.com profile] mercurialist) I don't pay attention to at all, outside of occasional glances at unofficial websites to see if there's any new icon fodder out there. The Used falls pretty far outside of my musical tastes; I just think Quinn's face fits my mental image of Mercer far, far better than anybody else I've found.

And [livejournal.com profile] its_a_robe...doesn't really count, I don't think. *g*

I cannot stalk Daniel Craig (PB of [livejournal.com profile] callitavesper) this year, nor for that matter Nicole Kidman (PB of [livejournal.com profile] silvia_broome), because my head will asplode from the meta. I am, however, a huge fan of both, moreso of Kidman considering I've seen more of her films than I have of Daniel Craig. But believe you me, I will be renting some of his movies as soon as I'm done catching up on various canons, and I most certainly did not complain when he popped up in Munich wearing lots of nice, tight clothing to accentuate his figure and convinced me that just maybe he'd make a decent Bond after all. I had only seen him once before in Road to Perdition--okay, I saw Elizabeth way before then, and Tomb Raider, but remember him in neither.

Adrien Brody (PB of [livejournal.com profile] jackdriscoll)--duh! Ask [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes).

[identity profile] callitavesper.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh snap, and I KNEW I forgot someone. A very, very big someone: Philip Seymour Hoffman, PB of [livejournal.com profile] incoldwrit. Considering I squeed when he won an Oscar for a film I hadn't seen yet, and considering my mood theme is comprised entirely of pictures of him, I will conclude this with a big, fat DUH. I love that guy.

I started listening to Muse a hell of a lot more after choosing Matt Bellamy as Wes's ([livejournal.com profile] i_love_kettch) PB, for a different game a few months before joining Milliways. I think I only had one of their albums before that.

Then Matt goes and does stuff like, when asked what he would be doing if he weren't making music, says, "Well, I'm small enough to be a fighter pilot, right? That'd be pretty cool."

:O

I don't really stalk any of the others (I still refuse to watch The OC, even if Benjamin Mackenzie is [livejournal.com profile] whinyslicer's PB), although I suppose the only reason I want to see How To Eat Fried Worms is cause one of the kids is [livejournal.com profile] astral_brat's PB...

[identity profile] alemara.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I satlk not only my PB's but also others (hi, Sophia Myles and Kate Beckinsale!) but the only one of mine that I search around for (in vain) is Jeremy Sumpter. I have never seen Peter Pan, and picked him as Caspian's PB merely on a whim and because he fit the basic profile I've always had in my head. That was clearly a mistake, though, and Google has had the last laugh as I've spent the past two years searching fruitlessly for images of him that are not: A.) Too young and dressed in that weird plastic-leaf costume or B.) from some bizarre jailbait photoshoot where I swear to god he's wearing lip gloss. Or C.) from that bizarre Lifetime movie where he plays some kid addicted to online porn.

Wtf.

I've done myself in, though; even though James Franco in Tristan and Isolde fits the bill very nicely and I use him in a few icons, I now think Jeremy Sumpter when I think of Caspian. It is incredibly frustrating, mostly because he's great but there are so few images of him. Disney, please cast your Prince Caspian so I can finally rest easy?

Honestly, though? I know very little of my PBs other works (except Utena's voice actress who I have stalked through various animes). Most of them I know and love as my character: Jake Gyllenhaal is an excellent example of this because even though I love him as Jack, I can't really equate Jack Twist with Random Other Gyllenhaal Character. Dunno why.

I think you probably qualify for a PB-stalking-assist in that you are the reason I have seen most of Hugh Dancy's work* at this point, so feel free to take credit for that.

*Except Basic Instinct II because I do have some standards and Shooting Dogs because no one on this side of the pond will get around to releasing it.

I'm pretty fortunate that most of my pups have pre-ordained PBs and icon communities to browse through because the mun's icon-making skills suck. I've considered trying to find non-animated/drawn PBs for Hanabi and Malu, but that probably won't happen for a while yet.

In fact, the biggest struggle for me, PB-wise, has been for Nisha ([livejournal.com profile] sweepergirl. The closest match I've come to is Sydney Park (kid actor, done some guest spots on That's So Raven), even though she's not the same ethnicity as Nisha is. Other than that I just resort to Google'd images.

Well, I stalk the entire Jossverse cast in whatever they do, so I watched Amy Acker (Fred & Illyria's PB) when she was on Alias, and found myself once again impressed at how her voice, mannerisms, and expressions all totally change depending on who she's playing.

Other people's PBs? Back when [livejournal.com profile] devils_dandy was still around I had a brief crush on Gael Garcia Bernal, but having finally seen him in some things I find that I only think he's attractive in photos. He's a decent actor, though, but I suddenly can't see him as Montparnasse.

I also picked Ville Valo for a friend's OC's PB elsewhere and mayyyy have a mild crush on him, now.

I've occasionally stalked characters based on the PB. See: any Christian Bale pup. I will follow them even if I don't know their canon well because Christian Bale = hotness. Sadly, I don't often bring myself to actually interact with them. :O!!! Intimidation, perhaps.

It's damned hard to find PBs for my characters because... well, okay, I attended a Knight Registries event this summer and I have PLENTY of pics of Kitt as a car, and I can get screencaps galore of Bonnie, but... it's difficult as all hell to find pics of Patricia McPherson when she's in something besides Knight Rider and even harder to find really good ones besides "ooh wow I'm hot" for Matt Keeslar (Steve Rimbauer.)
