MILLIVERSARY POST #1

A YEAR AGO TODAY.

Zuko stumbled in from being stuck on a raft for weeks, and promptly fell asleep at at table. Veronica Mars decorated him with plastic army men, and took incriminating photos since she was enamored of StuffOnMyCat.com. Ray Stanz found him and explained a few things... he didn't know that he'd be here-- quite some time.

REWIND:

August 2005 was a really hard time for me. Harder was getting back on my feet in the months that followed. I dropped out of one scene, away from a group of people, and was attempting to move on with my life. But I wanted to roleplay; I just couldn't go back to the scenes I'd been in. I had joined apharsites a month before, with innerbrat acting as my gateway drug pusher enabler guide to roleplays that didn't suck on livejournal, holding my hand every step of the way (so yes, this is directly her fault). The previous game was sort of where I learned the ins and outs of livejournal RP, despite that I'd done MUSHing, forum play, tabletop, PBEM and LARP and nearly every other permutation of RP ever done before. I didn't know her that well; we'd met in Fray fandom, of all things -- I was one of the few people that didn't get introduced to it by her, but had known about it already! We bonded, she mentioned this new game, and I took a plunge--

--and I've yet to need to run away screaming yet.

I've made a lot of good friends here. I have friends here I didn't know PLAYED here till they told me long after the fact of my app. I've watched people come and go, discovered new fandoms, discovered why I'm still not interested in other fandoms...

Milliways hasn't always made me happy, but most of the people in it are people that do make me extremely joyful and pleased to be here. I'm glad to have met so many wonderful people. I'm glad I've met so many great RPers, storytellers and straight up human beings. I've laughed. I've cried. I've thrown things at my screen. I've baptized my desk with coke shot through my nose. IT's been an experience, a many varied and wonderful thing.

Its been good, yeah.
