Somewhere between a plot and a fic prompt...
All right. This week, if all goes as planned, certain events will have unfolded in the world of Final Fantasy X, the canon Yuna (
night_hibiscus) and Tidus (
his_fathers_sin) hail from.
I'm planning to entrance post Yuna Thursday, coming in from a desperate magico-medical triage situation. She would be really glad to recruit the help of anyone she can find with healing skills, magical or not. (Although fair warning--this is a situation where magical skills are going to be a lot more useful, given low tech levels.)
The problem is--neither Mir nor I have the time to organize a massive OOM plot with a ton of NPCs right now. So we're planning on running this in a novel way that will make things pretty easy for all of us, I think.
Yuna will enter Thursday morning from the triage center, and that post will be an open target for recruitment. Some of those threads may be really short, or slowtimed. At the end of the night, I'll post an exit post for the group.
Then, instead of threading all together, party-style, or split up in seperate threads with NPCs, everyone participating can post OOMs of their own character's night, or, if any of you do want to thread those, that's fine. These can trickle in over time, posted just like normal OOMs.
Obviously, this comes with certain limitations. I know lots of you probably aren't familiar with Final Fantasy X canon; I'm setting up a post with a canondump for relevant information & Mir and I will be around for pinging or email, but I understand if people don't want to write in an unfamiliar canon alone. It also means that if your character is likely to be massively helpful, this probably isn't the plot for them--it's important that the course of events stay pretty close to canon, since we'll be moving on before all the OOMs are in. The idea is sort of like M*A*S*H* meets the House of Healing from LotR; small victories mixed with equal losses.
Finally, this is mostly a situation for healers only, and those who aren't magical healers will find themselves at a significant disadvantage. This isn't a good time for interworld tourism. If your character is a constant companion/bodyguard of a healer, though--like Lan and Nynaeve, for example--they could also be a fit.
I meant to have the canondump-and-details post up by today, but I... don't. I decided to get this out to start checking on interest anyway, since Thursday is close. do right here! Comment here & I'll put you on the filter for the post, and then watch the back_room for a link!.
Thanks.

Merlin can't actually heal, but he can extend strength to both those who are wounded and to those who are healing, and dampen pain on a temporary scale.
Both are used to working in war zones and in both winning and losing the battle for lives. So, it is up to you.

And you know FFX, as I recall, so that's great. It's (plotspoilers!), as you've probably guessed.

Elrond will grumble, but deal with whatever disguise is provided, as healing is one of his major callings. It sounds like it will be interesting!

Gavroche might be an interesting fit, actually, given the Kinderguardians* hanging around and his history with warfare.
Anyway, pick one and comment with 'em so I can friend?
*There's a summoner hanging around whose bodyguards are his little brothers, both under 15.

Sophie hasn't tried to use her magic for healing yet (i.e. talking things into behaving), but canonically it can work that way - and it's something I'd like to experiment with. I think she'd be able to magically improve people's conditions/healing time, at least, although probably not fix huge wounds, and it's something I'd like to experiment with, so . . . count me in?

Even if she can just buy time until a more powerful healer can get to them, that's valuable.

Crap, I've given the game away, huh?)
Gen is a killjoy. *solemn*
Just like Lan.

Actually, I had some specific thoughts about WoT-Spiran magical meshing, which we have thrashed at before, but I will save it for IM, I think.
...and to make this less self-indulgent, if anyone has questions about integrating their canonical magic and Spira's, I love talking magic theory. It's a sickness in me. We can talk.

Also, I think this idea is no fun and I wish to be a killjoy as much as I possibly can. And veto EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD.
Which is to say, thumbs up. :D

Okay, maybe I'm nuts.
But Ton is a bit on the stircrazy side since he's been in the SAME BAR FOR SIX MONTHS CUZ HE'S DED.
So if a little snark isn't a problem...

I'll go ahead and filter you into the post, and we'll see what we can work out. *thumbs up*

Ton'll go play Healing Hero elsewhere. He's threatening to shoot himself if I put him in a world with that much magic running around.
Ton: *Thwaps mun* THANK YOU. Imma go find Kell and help him blow something up now. *glares at Brett*
