A Reminder

Hello! Bar Mod #1 here, posting in to remind you oldbies and inform you newbies about bar hiring practices!

First of all, the purpose of this post isn't to embarrass, or point out, or anything bad. I know, having played here so long, that information doesn't flow as freely as anyone would like, so I just want to make sure you all know what's up.

Most bar staff are hired when we call for a hiring drive. This usually happens about once or twice a year, sometimes more if there's a lot of turnover. Security hires are handled by the Head of Security who right now is [livejournal.com profile] prone_to_panic. Bartender/kitchen/grounds hires are handled by myself and [livejournal.com profile] mnt_mike (unless -- who on the garden/grounds staff handles all that right now? Asar-Suti?). Waitstaff hires are handled by [livejournal.com profile] maid_of_astolat. Stable hires are handled by [livejournal.com profile] the_seafarer. Medical hires are handled by [livejournal.com profile] simon_doctor.

Housekeeping... The Oompa Loompas have it covered. And then some.

Each section of the staff tends to be autonomous, but vaguely (and I mean vaguely) reports to me and Karen. If you're qualified for one of the satellite staffs, approach their heads as listed above. If qualified for bartending, waiting, or Security, please wait for a hiring drive.

In the meantime, if you really need money, there's the brothel.

:D? Thanks!

Yep, Asar-Suti has so far hired the garden staff, going with Bernard's criteria to only pick Bound people who are too young or otherwise disqualified for bar work.

Asar-Suti is actually going to hire the staff for the 2007 season soon, as work in the garden will have to start in March, if that's all right. He'll hire about five people, as usual; might re-hire some of last year's that were un-hired over winter, or get a completely new team. Depends on who shows up.

You're perfectly right about the kitchen. While I've always been happy to deal with anyone who has approached me to get their pup a job in the kitchen I haven't got time to have Gil do more than play occasionally. In fact if you want to appoint a new Head Chef feel free. I hope you won't mind him doing the occasional shift though when I can fit it in.

I'd hate to be forced to give up Milliways completely. The original ethos was that it should be a place that catered for people who could place once a month as well as the folk who put in 10 hours a day.

Lord, love I didn't mean it that way. I was merely making the offer to have Gil stand down so if there's someone about who you think would be able to have good fun and devote the time and energy to Head Cheffery sentiment doesn't stand in the way. On the other hand, if having a Head Chef who is called in when required fits the bill I'm more than happy to carry on with it.

I DO miss making and posting the menus and playing out small gentle unobtrusive plots but Milliways is just so big that I can't keep up with it as it deserves to be kept up with [eeew bad grammar!!] and it seems selfish to keep a pup-post that someone else might enjoy.

Thanks sweetie. Knowing there's a Milliways, a kitchen and a faun to retreat to when necessary is balm to the soul.
