Milli-poker update: here's the rules.
I have a plan for how we can run this poker game - and this way, I will be the only one who needs to have an actual deck of cards, unless I can find a non-player to do it. Anyway, here's how it will work:
At the beginning of each hand, YT will be dealing the cards, left to right. In the real world, I will have a pack of cards and "deal" five to each of the players. Then, at the bottom of my deal post, I will list each player's name, along with the cards they have been dealt - but the cards will be in whitetext, so that you can only see them by selecting them. This will make it easier for you, the players, to RP as if you really have no idea what the other pups' cards are, assuming you follow the honor system and don't peek another pup's hand. All the cheating should be in RP, not on the metagame level. Of course, the problem with this is that I will still know what your cards are, but that just puts the burden on me to play YT as if she doesn't know. And don't worry, I have a memory like a sieve, so I'll probably forget what your hands are anyway after I've entered them.
Oh, and you can exchange cards for new ones too. Just say that you are exchanging X number of cards and put the values and suits of the cards at the bottom of your post, in whitetext. I will reply dealing you new cards, which will likewise be in whitetext at the bottom of my post.
I'll also be keeping a tally of how many chips each player has and how much is in the pot. We will each start with a certain number of white (one), red (five) and blue (ten) chips. One of the ways you can cheat is by stealing other players' chips - or, in Edward's case, making some with alchemy on the sly. By the way, if you cheat, make it obvious in your post - the other players can decide whether to react to you or not.
Posting order should proceed in the same fashion as dealing. Say that the order of seating, and therefore dealing, is Edward, James, Juliet, and YT. This means that when we are making bets, Edward will post first, then James, then Juliet, then myself. Say how much you are putting in the pot, and the colors of chips you are using, so I can keep track.
To keep things organized, I will post each "deal" as a separate reply to the main post, and all actions subsequent to that deal will be a thread of replies beneath the deal post. Of course, this will all break down when the accusations of cheating start to fly, and then we'll just have to play it by ear.
When I put up the "Five-card Stud" post I will also create a "Millipoker" chat on AIM that you can join if you like, to facilitate smoothness of play. But I'm assuming that we will go into slowtime at some point, which is why the actual play mechanics depend exclusively on stuff I can do in the threads.
I think that's everything, and I hope it makes sense. See you at the card game.
