body-swap ahoy

Okay guys, April Fool’s is nearly upon us. Shati is very kindly going to put up the curry distribution post at some point tomorrow morning (EST), so here’s a reminder of the schedule. If you haven't yet found out who you're swapping with, the List can be found here. Remember (and I’m sure I don’t need to say this), only pups who are signed up for the body-swap can experience the joys of the curry, so there's no point in throwing new pups at it in the hope we don't notice.

A couple of quick things:

1. As the idea was met with no violent protests, pups participating in the body-swapping are going to be temporarily Bound from the moment they eat the curry to the moment its effects wear off.

2. OKAY. We have discussed the 'what to do with the superpowers' thing, and have decided to leave it up to the muns to decide whether or not their pup's powers are going to stay with the body or leave with the mind, so as to not Screw With Canon and whatnot. Please leave a comment here, if any of your participating pups have any powers, stating whether it's mind or body, so swappers can check up on it. Any more questions, direct them at Hallia (who shall be here all evening), because I am going to bed.

That’s about it from me, but if you have any last minute questions just leave a comment here.

What about in cases, like I mentioned in the other post, where the superpowers are canonically due to genetics? The Heroes writers have always put a ton of emphasis on the fact that their brand of superpowers isn't any different from other physical features a person might have, so having them stay with the mind would be like having somebody's hair color follow them to another body. It wouldn't make any sense.

(Inasmuch as body-switching curry makes sense to begin with, anyway.)

(...I'm sensing a flaw in my argument. Uh. Hey, look, over there! It's a giant purple elephant! *points frantically*)

Anyway, because of that, Peter's mun and I have been working under the assumption that their powers were going to stay with their bodies (which included lots of discussion on how not to implode the bar during their switch -- in fact, having Sylar in a body he thinks is depowered would probably diffuse a lot of potentially violent situations that could crop up during the plot), and this could throw our plans off-kilter pretty badly.

Hee, I was about to post with "help! Switching powers makes it easier not to implode the bar!" But yeah -- I know I was thinking of a line in the show where the resident scientist says having an ability is like having brown eyes. If it works for you guys, we could possibly just not classify the Heroes abilities with the magical powers?

Oh, Heroes "science." How you make our lives difficult.

Whoops, I didn't see the answer. This is what happens when you leave tabs open. *slinks away, bearing-with-ily*

Okay, awesome. Thank you guys so much! (And sleep well :) )

awww, c'mon, the Bunny wants to play around with magic spells....

Fire = various fire-y powers going with the mind. Because c'mon, she switches bodies on a semi-regular basis.

Just...generally she makes the decision.

Rial = has no powers and is sadly not a super-sekrit Jedi.

:(

Artie: his morphic instability is tied to his genetic structure, and therefore stays with his body. Sorry, Plourr, ya gotta deal with the gerbil thing.

Dot: Cannot digest or consume anything containing water, or any human foods. Also magnets= VERY BAD THINGS. Avoid please. She also has a constant near-wordless headvoice, it's her Command.Com protocol. Sustain, Protect, Control. To her it's comforting, sorry but you're going to go a little bugnuts.

Bunny- He's a robot, so all his stuff goes with him. Which is mainly practical invulnerbility, the ability to inflict massive amounts of damage, and yer basic scannign system.

Spike- All the Vampire stuff goes with his body

Bart- Superhero, all his speed goes with his body.

Claire-With her body.

Welsh!mun, we talked about her telepathy. It's so faint, I doubt he'll even hit on it, at this point, so really, I guess it doesn't matter.

Got ya! :D

[identity profile] silverpenlight.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
...yeah, so, I should remember my other pups.

Gin...um. I may have to think about this. Actually, I'm going to have to think about this a lot. Mr. Gumby-mun, maybe email me (faceinabook@gmail.com)?

Jonathan's a wizard, but Buffyverse magic is very dependent on either concentration or verbal spells or sometimes physical objects, and you have to know you've got it to use it, mostly, so I don't think it'd be a problem either way.

Gavroche's magic is going with the mind, because he swore an Oath to get it and we don't want Spider having... okay, so Spider already has the ability to make the world how he wants it, but still. Gavroche keeps it.

Petrie's flying goes with the body, obviously. Though I don't imagine Skwisgaar will know how to use it immediately. ;)

Kevin and Mr. Universe don't have any special powers, unless you count genius.

[identity profile] heads-you-live.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
*snork* Skwisgaar's superspeed guitar playing stays with his body, it's physically impossible for him to play slowly *shrug*

Also: probably he's going to want to get Very VERY drunk when he wakes up as a prehistoric bat, is this alright?

[identity profile] avariel-wings.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* It wouldn't be the first (or, uh, the second *wry*) time I've got Petrie drunk, so go for it. ;)

[identity profile] heads-you-live.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*snicker* Alright.

And given as how Petrie's so tiny, it shouldn't take much. Which will probably frustrate the poor guitarist further *gives him cookies*

[identity profile] heads-you-live.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Domino's abilities are all physical, so they'll stay with her body

Skwisgaar's are the same, superspeed guitar skillz and being taller than a 6'4'' tree

Remy's powers... uh... well, Adam-mun, shoot me an email, or if it's after about 6 Pacific when you see this, gimmie a ping on AIM, we'll discuss.

[identity profile] dryadgurrl.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Here's question that I don't believe has been addressed: Will the pups be waking up in their own rooms or the body's room?

[identity profile] silverpenlight.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
...um.

Okay, I am going to say their own room, with hopes that that's not a problem for anyone.

[identity profile] dryadgurrl.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that works, because, I was thinking the opposite >,>

I think dividing Spider's powers would be funny. Make me strain to be god-like and make the other guy accidentally do Spider-like things.
