Public Service Announcement: What To Expect When You're Incarcerated
Hey folks! Batya here, mun of Andrew Wells, the current holder of the spells that control Baby. If you're not familiar with Baby, not to worry -- lots of people aren't. (Especially lots of our newest players. Hello, newest players! *waves enthusiastically*)
Hence this post, in anticipation of the upcoming bar brawl. Which, if I hear correctly, will end with a greater-than-usual number of people in the cells.
Baby is a magical AI, who runs -- or, more accurately, is -- the security system in the cells. She was created by Tim Hunter, who maintained a psychic link with her and passed the link to Andrew when he left the bar for good. She's got two primary purposes: to keep prisoners in, and to keep them safe. She's also got just enough of a mind of her own to be flexible about how to do it.
What this means to you, if your pup wind up in the cells after the brawl (or any other time)? Couple of things.
1) Baby will probably not let prisoners injure themselves, and will definitely not let them injure other prisoners. Hit the wall often enough and it'll start to act as though it's padded. Make too much noise during the night shift and your cell may go semi-soundproof.
2) There isn't a way to escape. No, really.
3) If you want your pup to do any extensive interaction with the cell, that's very possible -- check out earlier threads in
ways_office to see what I mean. If you want specific examples, give me a holler and I'll see if I can find you some.
4) If anyone wants to visit and/or bring things to your pup in the cells, it'll almost certainly be allowed. Note: disguised weapons will probably not get past Baby, but if your pup would try it, hey -- it might be fun to play out.
Questions? Reply here or ping me on AIM at batyathetoon. Mods, if I've left out anything important (or overstepped myself here), please let me know.

...It's either awful or perfect that this account is the one I just happened to be logged into.

I don't believe Baby will necessarily always provide a change of clothes -- at least not for anyone staying under 4 days or so.

Though anyone who needs to get in, if there's a post already up for whoever they want to visit, is free to assume Faramir lets them in. :)

Also, it's probably worth pointing out that Heater wrote a wonderful FAQ (http://community.livejournal.com/ways_office/profile) for Security stuffs not so long ago, which includes some extra details about Baby and the jailtime process.

For a default assumption, though, yeah -- you can't get into the cells any more easily than you can get out of them.

Which reminds me: Bar and Baby should have some sort of a play date.
