A Frog Gets Ready to Walk into a Bar ...

Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here!
(Also Blade, a.k.a. BlueEyedTigress.) ;D

I'm finally getting brave organised enough to do an entry post for Kermit. I'm thinking of actually posting/playing his entry into the Bar on May 16th -- the 17th anniversary of Jim Henson's death. (Kermit will be thoughtful and solemn about this, but by no means morose and weepy!)

Will anyone be around next, um, Wednesday evening (that's evening in the Great Lakes region of Canada, BTW) who'd like to interact with the Frog?

Also, gotta ask -- bound vs. not bound? I've got the basic idea, what I'd like are opinions about how it affects play, and whether it's advisable (or not) for a rank newbie like me? Please and thanks. ;]

(Here's the OOM beginning of Kermit's evening, his hand on the door that will bring him to Milliways ....)

My suggestion is always start not-Bound. It means your character has the freedom to come and go, which is often easier on their minds. The exception would be characters who would take one look at the place and vow never to return.

And, as I've mentioned in chat before, Muppets are pretty much canonpuncture-proof. (Which isn't to say he won't get his share of fanboys/girls pouncing on him...)

I'm a relatively new-newbie meself, and my character started straight from bound due to being dead. I can't see it making a huge amount of difference as long as you and your pup can adapt easy enough. Bound may result in the occasionally solemn moment, but.. y'know.

And hooray for Kermit!

[identity profile] weeper-of-blood.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Y'don't need a good reason to have him bound. :P

I'd say go for it if that's what you fancy, being bound can be pretty fun at times and gives your pup an extra thing to add to conversations. Makes for a good talking point.

I am totally into having Kermit as a barman! That would be on my list of Top Ten Most Awesome Things Ever.

...I think I would love to have one of mine meet the Frog *serene* oh yes.

Lucy Pevensie would work very well.

It's a puppet! But...really. Considering. Puppet's not that much weirder than anything from her canon.

It depends!

The ways of Aslan are Deep and Mysterious.

But let me know if you ever want a thread and we can work something out!

*nods*

Yeah. I mention it only because I do not really EP the Lion, or tag posts without talking to the mun, because some people do not want to interact with an allegorical Christ-figure.

Is all. *g*

May I [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes this? It so deserves it!

Yo! Mun of [livejournal.com profile] im_a_whatever here. We should talk. :)

I'm GypsyJr427 on AIM or you can catch me at gypsyjr@gmail.com . Either way's fine with me. :)

I'm on AIM pretty much all the time, as it's my preferred form of internet communication, but I'm good with email too. Or perhaps e-mail for planning and AIM when we're actually playing. Whatever works best for you. :)

I'd say Madb has the right of it -- not to mention that a Bound pup needs to be a little more aware of the goings on in the bar than one who's coming in and out. That's not necessarily a bad thing, of course, but it requires more attention from the mun. 'S up to you and how much time you have. :)

In other news, EEEE KERMIT. *bounces*

[identity profile] whisper2ascream.livejournal.com 2007-05-11 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww man... *eyes her woefully neglected Fraggle pup*

And has it really been 17 yrs? Wow, I remember when that came on the news.

And OMG FLAIL AT THE KERMIE!!!

....eeep... *shoves headvoice* Anyway, I got any number of pups with mixed reactions to Kermit.

[identity profile] buongiornodaisy.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to make my pups Bound on the outset because of all the breaky goodness it inspires. Of course, breaky goodness is not always someone's bag, so really, it's up to you and what you want to get out of your pup.

[identity profile] didntseeit.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
bound vs. not bound?

I've done a mixture of both with my characters - some have started off bound, others not. Ajedrez was bound for the simple reason that I needed her to learn things so she doesn't get herself killed when she goes back to canon - when I unBind her, she'll be free to come and go. Others start of coming and going, both because it suits my time-limits and their characters - they are more inclined to go 'ooh, shiny, cool' and go with the flow.

[identity profile] didntseeit.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Or, possibly, he could just choose to stay at the Bar...but, yeah, it's given that being bound and unbound are subject to fancy and randomness.

[identity profile] blueeyedtigress.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Being lazy -- posting from my other me:

I've sort of set it up so there's a break between shows, so he'll likely hang around the bar for a while, for a nice change of pace, even if he *can* see the doorway out.

[identity profile] nitro-is-ace.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
KERMIT! *glee*

Poor Ace is going to be hiding in the rafters in fear of pig. On that note, there was once TARDIS siblings adventure to the Muppet Theatre. If you won't want to use that, it's fine - there's a multitude of parallel universes.

[identity profile] blueeyedtigress.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not to worry -- Kermit will be hoping that Piggie doesn't find Milliways. (And he'll have words with Gonzo to that effect, I think!) Piggie is being more possessive and domineering than usual, and Kermie could use a refuge where she won't show up ...
(Please forgive the LJ ID, posting from my other secret identity.) ;]

*squees* Kermit, yayyyy! Just by announcing you're going to be bringing the Main Frog into the Bar, you're tempting me to drag in Scooter kicking and screaming.

I'll be around middle to late Wednesday evening. I'm debating whether to have Dani ([livejournal.com profile] ami_imperfect) or the much-neglected Munch [livejournal.com profile] blowupthefloats) interact with Kermit. Or I might just ignore the two of them and have Kermit meet Nisha ([livejournal.com profile] sweepergirl).

Unfortunately Scooter hasn't been apped yet, though I do RP him over at Theatrical Muse. If I do decide to bring him in, I might kinda-sorta steal your idea and do it on Richard Hunt's birthday.

Dani Fenton/Phantom is from the Nick cartoon series Danny Phantom; she's Danny's younger, unstable clone. John Munch is from Law & Order: SVU. And Nisha is is from the books The Conch Bearer and The Mirror of Fire and Dreaming.

Ingress will be delighted to meet Kermit. Perhaps Bar can provide him some fly speck ice cream. :)

Ahahah - apologies for the post spam, but I've just had a thought. (Alert the media!)

There's a line in my newly approved pup (http://uksupercop.livejournal.com/profile)'s canon about him "wanting to be Kermit the Frog" for a brief period of his childhood.

Think a meeting could be arranged? :D
