For all those involved in fandom (which, duh, most of us are)
Hey all,
I'm peeking my head out from lurkdom here, in light of the recent LJ TOSing kerfuffle, to encourage everyone to go join![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
fandom_counts, which is simply a community that's been set up solely for the purpose of getting an estimate of how many of Livejournal's 13 million accounts belong to those who consider themselves part of a fandom in some way. You don't have to do anything other than join, from what I can tell. It's solely for the sake of information. For getting a count, just in case Livejournal decides to start cracking down on anything else, or even if they don't. I think it's worthwhile information to have, before another banning incident happens, so that someone can step forward and go "hey, you're screwing with fandom, here, and there are X many of us whose business you stand to lose."
Personally, I joined with both my OOC journal and all of my character journals, because the point is not to get a count of the number of separate individuals, but rather how many of those 13 million separate journals belong to people who read or write fanfiction, RP, and the like.
Mods, if this post is too off-topic, feel free to delete it, but it's fairly rare that I think memes are a good enough idea to post this publically, and I thought my RP communities were deeply enough entrenched in fandom happenings to appreciate it.
