Not-Going-to-Millicon Plot!

So, last year, a group of people not going to Millicon got together and had Plot.

This year, I thought we might do the same. :)

It's not quite the same as the Dungeon Crawl, but there's definitely going to be some similar aspects.

Some of you may be familiar with the movie In the Mouth of Madness, a 1991 horror movie. Those of you who aren't, I'll give you a brief synopsis. A wildly successful writer of horror novels uses the power of belief to release Cthulionic beings into this world, setting off a wave of insanity and hysteria that drives most of the human race to destroy itself. Some of the people mutated, some of the people went on horrific killing sprees, and some were driven by intense paranoia to commit suicide. Basically, the world just went to shit.

And that's how the movie ended. There was no nice, neat, good-triumphing-over-evil wrap up.

So, what I'm proposing is a plot to give that closure. I'm going to bring John Trent into the bar in July. John Trent was the man sent to locate the author, Sutter Cane, by the author's publishing company. Cane, on the other hand, manipulated Trent into bringing his latest manuscript to the publishers in order to unleash hell on earth.

I'd like to have him make some friends here and take a party back into his world to find Sutter Cane and reseal the Great Old Ones that have been released. It's going to be a horror plot with blood, monsters, gore, and violence. If your pup comes from a horror movie canon, they're welcome to join, but I would like not everyone in the party to be that way. I'd like people to be affected by what they see. I'd like it not to be six or seven people all going 'Oh, it's zombies again. Woo.'

The actual plot will take place in OOMs over the course of the weekend Millicon takes place -- July 19th-22nd. This means you have to be available for threading. ^^ Not every moment of those four days, but reasonably so in order to keep the plot moving. You also need to not be attending Millicon. That's the point of this. A plot for people not there.

If you do have interest, reply here or email me at peachesandjasmin @ gmail.com or ping me on AIM at peachesandjasmin. If you have any questions, I'll do my absolute best to answer them. :D

AHAHA I love that movie.

Sadly, I'm not eligible to participate.

I'm so interested. And even with many more than one person.

I think this sounds like a fabulous idea. I'll probably be working during the day those days, but should have evenings open.

I'm going to throw in Domino Harvey, and perhaps Skwisgaar, just for crack purposes, but if we get a lot of crack pups signing up, I'll leave him out.

Bond's an obvious choice, plus he's more than likely going to be oodles and oodles of action plot and, believe it or not, the guy likes to rest once in a while.

So! You can has a Elle and/or a new pup I just apped who looks an awful lot like James Bond...'s previous incarnation. One of them anyway. *shifty*

(Depending largely on if he's approved, mind.)

I've been hoping someone would organize something during Millicon! That said, I'm -- really not sure that any of mine would volunteer for this or something like it. D: I'll see what poking and prodding I can do, though!

Sooraya would be interested, and helpful, one thinks. *g*

Well, I think I can offer a violet deity who might, just this once, actually use his awesome divine smiting power, and then a very, very cynical tarot card, who'd go, 'Oh, another cataclysm! *yawn* Okay, I'll play.'

"My favorite color is blue."

While I won't be around for this plot, and chances are good I wouldn't be all that helpful even if I was, I applaud you for the use of a truly awesome movie.

Rock on.

Should I try to find a copy? (*has not seen, sadly*)

and I'm still up for this. However would like to ask if we could adjust things slightly to have the "Older" Sooraya who's just popped up in Bar, be the one to go help out if that works for you. (Mainly cause ICly, she's really in better shape+circumstances to help deal with Great Old Ones than Present-Sooraya). And she'll remember John, though no good asking her about the future IC; she's got mad skillz at being Cryptic on the subject.

I volunteer a girl experienced with this *exact* scenario.

[identity profile] accipiterpuella.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Eldritch creatures, you say? Threats of apocalypse and the descent of the world into madness?

I volunteer Kendra. Kendra's your girl. She has experience with this sort of thing, including magic, eldritch shambling, transdimensional evil entities manifesting on the physical plane, gore, psychic possession, ooze, slime, dystopian futures and presents, etc. She will not hesitate to swing her mace and send monster brains into planetary orbit, and even if she has little or no chance of success, she's good for charging into battle to give other people time to escape Certain DeathTM.

Also...

Whoa, posted too soon. I meant to add: AWESOME PLOT idea, A++++ would squee again, etc. Great choice of movie! *is a huge horror movie fan*

[identity profile] maid-of-astolat.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I shall be here. And I LOVE that movie. :)

I think this is an Angela-type plot for sure.

[identity profile] angela-edmunds.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
However, if I do use Angela, I don't think she'd *volunteer* for this?

Any way she could be swept into it by accident?

[identity profile] dragonofgrey.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
oooooh! I have that movie. It's insane Old Ones love.

I can think of a few pups to sign up for this.

Dunno about this one necessarily... Giles... oh you NEED some experts at crazy stuff like this....

Tempted to add a Venkman but he's seeing Old Ones and going "Who you gonna call? Someone else!"

Might even volunteer Truman. He's my purely human pup.

I should have Bester by then.... oooh muhahahaha... telepath + Old Ones, oh that's gonna be soooo bad.

Can you tell I'm excited by this plot?

[identity profile] gothymcgoth.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
OOH OOH, i want in! Erm. Probably with Molly, cause I have no idea if Jericho will eb aprroved by then.

It sounds...intense. Perhaps too intense for me, since I am not a huge horror movie fan. I will get back to you.

[identity profile] first-sixth.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm probably not going to be able to go to Millicon since it falls at a terribly inconvenient time for me, financially, so I may have a pup or possibly two to chuck into things. Sounds like fun!

[identity profile] magwana.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh. I'd like to throw a pup that way. Seeley Booth, for one, would be up for it.

Psychotic gods, steep odds, and saving the world?

I might know a girl.
visible_sariel: (something to say)

[personal profile] visible_sariel 2007-07-03 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Even though Millicon's in Chicago, which is wicked close to me by comparison to, say, Seattle, I've got class and can't go. Dang.

That said, I'm all for the intense, but not so much for the gore, and Sariel's not exactly the monster-fighter type, say sorry. If you like I can have her about for within-the-bar support before and/or after plot happens. :)
