Hi. She-Hulk would like to apologize, and then get very, very drunk.

Greetings, my fellow Milliwayserites of awesome!

So, some of you might have noticed that She-Hulk/Jen has been absent from the bar for the last couple of months, and that is largely because:

1. I started a new job which promptly mugged me, beat me black and blue, stripped me of my dignity, pride, and higher cognitive functions, and left me for dead under my desk (I...I worked seventeen hours yesterday).

2. I was waiting for the MEGA crossover event World War Hulk to finally begin, which it officially did, as of yesterday, and promptly set the internets aflame with its rampant awesomeness.

First things first: I have not forgotten about the Rainbow Coalition Party, and will resume organizing that ASAP.

But World War Hulk means some big changes for Jen. Why?

Well, first of all, this storyline has been building for two years; it ties in with dozens upon dozens of characters pertinent to Jen and involves numerous story arcs that are all about to come crashing into each other; in particular, it's going to involve Jen heavily, and present her with a critical choice.

Before I go any further, since sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words:

Behold the face-meltingly WHITE HOT AWESOMELY EPIC ten page climax to World War Hulk #1. There are big scans under that link, and obviously, some spoilers.

(The fact that the entire sequence only contains two sentences of dialogue somehow makes it even more brilliant. Also, I go hot and cold sometimes on John Romita Jr.'s Expressionist art, but man, here he is at the top of his game.)

For those of you going "...wha?" at that first page, that's Iron Man in the huge mech exoskeleton suit, and the streets look weirdly empty because the entire city of Manhattan was evacuated beforehand.

For those of you going "...and what does this have to do with She-Hulk, exactly?" at this entire post, the short version is that Jennifer Walters is the Hulk's - Bruce Banner's - first cousin; in fact, she actually got her powers from her cousin when he gave her an emergency blood transfusion as she lay dying from gunshot wounds way back in Savage She-Hulk #1.

About a year and a half ago, comic time, six people that Jen trusted -- that being Charles Xavier, Iron Man, Black Bolt, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Reed Richards, and Dr. Strange -- six people she trusted to Never, Ever Do This Sort of Thing -- secretly shot her cousin into space (against his will, I might add) to an uninhabited planet to ultimately live and die alone, because they considered him too great a threat to the Earth. No one knows they did this, until...now.

Being a comic character, the Hulk was contractually obligated to have his ship malfunction, fly off course, and crash on an inhabited planet, where he fought a lot of people, fell in love with a majestic Amazon warrior, and ultimately found happiness for perhaps first time in his life. That all ended in tragedy, naturally, and now the Hulk has come back to Earth to wreak mighty vengeance on those that wronged him.

As if that weren't enough, the past year has not been kind to Jen. Jen is not one to angst publically. But in the past six months alone, her time, things have taken a very, very dark turn, even by comic book standards. She's had to deal with:

- Her marriage falling apart;
- Her beloved cousin being missing for the past year;
- Watching her friend Bill Foster get murdered in front of her eyes;
- Seeing one of the people she loved and respected most in the world -- that being Captain America -- be brutally murdered;
- Ultimately finding out that her her cousin was shot into space, as above, which led by necessity to her..
- Beating the bejeesus out of her old friend Iron Man and throwing him off the SHIELD Helicarrer, and then promptly sueing him (which is why we love Jen), which led to...
- Kicking the everloving crap out of her dear friend and confidante (and therapist) Dr. Leonard Samson when she found out he was involved;
- Now having to deal with a very, very pissed off Hulk.

So, what does this mean for Milliways Jen?

Jen is PISSED OFF.

Mightily.

She'll be coming back to the bar at some point soon. When she does, Jen might not be her usual easygoing, beaming self. She of course would never hurt anyone at Milliways (unless attacked or something), but if prodded or asked about her cousin, or any of the above six people, or pretty much anything having to do with anything back home, she might rant, she might even rave a little bit, and then she will probably get very, very drunk.

Which, now that I think about it, might lead to some awesome threads.

Just...be prepared for potential mercurial reactions, is all that I ask. :-)

Also, again! I really will resume organizing the Rainbow Coalition Party ASAP, hopefully to happen sometime within the next month. I just need to see how WWH is going to play out a bit before I pick a time when Jen can wander into the bar and not be in gamma-powered angst.

Sorry for the mega long post, but I feel horrible for lurking for the past two months and just totally dropping the ball, people. You may commence stoning and punishment...NOW! That is, if anyone even remembers me. ;-)

*meep!*

Considering that most of the Rainbow Coalition has spent the last month working their way through canon OOMs, it's just as well...

Lucky ducky. I preordered a copy from B&N like two months ago and it still hasn't shipped yet.

Actually, according to Agent Zed, Jen has been completing DOZENS of missions on behalf of the Men in Black.

She, um, just might not remember....

=D?

Zed's in the bar tonight and will be again this week. The MiB's have been busy reconstructing back home, but they're going to be back for a while.

Zed will be so very pleased about that.
