Milliversary
July 16th is an interesting day in history.
In 1951 on this day, Catcher in the Rye was first published.
In 1969 on this day, the Apollo 11 moon mission launched, later resulting in the first manned moon landing.
Two years ago on this day, the sixth book in the famed Harry Potter series released, selling 287,564 books per hour in its first day of release, making it the fastest-selling book in history.
Three years ago on that day, however, a nervous girl bit her lip and clicked "Post to milliways_bar" for the first time ever, posting a curious little cat into a strange place.
She hasn't stopped and the cat hasn't left, since.
It's been a great three years. Milliways has a way of getting under your skin, seeping in so that you can't really imagine what life might be like without it. I can't imagine getting on AIM anymore and not being immediately *pounced* or *tackled* or *glomped* or just waved at by a friend. Milliways has been a wonderful experience, letting me meet new people who I probably never would have met, otherwise. It's been a delight to share with my friends and introduce to others who have become friends.
It's been a blast. I fully expect that it will continue to be.
Here's to a lengthy end to the universe.
