Excuse the backroom intrusion but as this is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time and I have been waiting for this for a long time I just had to post in. I am Drizzt mun otherwise known as JaxStanton on AIM now with that said allow me to give the muns of the Dark is Rising Canon a little treat.

Thats right folks October 5th of 2007 Fox and Walden media release the beloved tale, although from the trailer slightly altered (Hollywood style of course) of The Dark is Rising, the tale of Will Stanton and the battle between the Light and the Dark. That is all Enjoy.

...erm. That movie, which shall not be named, has altered the source text so badly that it can't be recognized. Speaking as a Dark is Rising player, I would suggest that everyone spend their film budget this fall on The Golden Compass instead.

That's the sole reason I intend to go see it. While sneaking in beer. And preferably at a showing where I can throw things at the screen.

It really does seem like it's taken all of the potential TDIR badfic that has yet to be written and has distilled it into a single compact package of Sheer Awful.

Considering some of the TDIR badfic I've come across, that's saying a lot.

I'll read your post about the experience of watching the movie with the help of beer and things to throw at the screen! I'm sure the post, at least, will be entertaining.

Agreed after the initial shock of excitement wore off it doesn't look that good. Not going to stop me seeing it, but it does look disappointing. To say the least.

I'm sure it'll be a perfectly acceptable movie in its own right. But it's not The Dark is Rising.

Well, I'll still go watch it. I read these books something like 15 years ago and probably won't remember anything but the names of the characters. :D?

I mean, I know I'm going to see it just for the explosions and Christopher Eccleston with hair.

Everytime I see that trailer at work, I just wait to see if Ian McShane will swear like he does in Deadwood. Alas, it's yet to happen.
